how long have you had it in 12/12?
iblodro4220

you should have had it at 18/6 untill you got sex then changed it to 12/12 damn 7 feet is big for an indoor plant

Yeah, there have been alot of "tall" plants around here lately. Either people don't know what they are doing, or they are just full of shit. Personally, I would think the latter.

maybe alot of ppl are full of shit, but heres my plant and my friend's standin next to it for scale. ive had it in 12 12 for weeks, there are bud sites but no real buds yet. this thing is getting too big for my place!

It is giving you buds! If it's throwing pistils, and on 12/12, and you have no light leaks, you should see the bud mass bulking up in a week or so.
That plant is very tall for indoors. And it is still stretching, so it's going to get taller.
General rule is that a shorter plant makes better use of artificial light, while taller plants are best suited for outdoors.
I take it that you have been running 12/12 from the start?
crazypumpkin
06-21-2007, 02:19 PM
from the start, yeah, but during veg i had it on 18 hours of light per day...how tall do you think its gonna get??? i dont want to have to crop this baby hahahah...
thats strange..it just keeps growing taller and taller. I'm pretty sure its female...there are white hairs, esp. around the top, but I dont see the bud mass....maybe I'm wrong? The plant has been growing and hasnt stopped since I began growing it in late december
My cell phone camera cant take great pics, so I'll repost with zoomed in pic with a digital camera hopefully by tomorrow.

it takes a couple weeks of full-on flowering to build up bud mass.
if thats a sativa, it's gonna get BIG and take forever and a half to finish.
whatever you do do NOT crop it. bend it, grow it in the stairwell, whatever you gotta do but once you start flower, topping is a big no-no.

that plant is all stem..... what happened to all the leaves?
.:Karma:. o.O
06-21-2007, 09:22 PM
that plant looks crazy its like a big stem with like 4 branches of leaves up top...
crazypumpkin
06-21-2007, 09:37 PM
hahahaha I know its fuckin crazy lookin. yeah seems like it has been taking forever, but if I started in december and now its almost july, how long do you think its gonna take to stop??
I dont have a stairwell. Well, I have one but I'm in an apartment hahah
Just took a random seed out of my stash of collected ones and thought I'd see if I could grow...
I just came back from jamaica tho with a few seeds so I'll try germinating those next, but damn...I just want my weed man. damn.

06-21-2007, 09:39 PM
sorry for the double post, but what do you mean by bending it man?
stinkyattic
06-21-2007, 09:40 PM
Pumpkin, be careful with Jamaican seeds because the native herb grows straight and TALL. You think that one is a monster, just wait.
Next grow, shell out for some classic indica genetics- something short and squat. Skunk #1 fits the bill and the seeds are dirt cheap, plus it's a stable line so you can make your own seeds if you want more.
.:Karma:. o.O
06-21-2007, 11:15 PM
yea you dont want anything bigger then what you have already and if you use the jamaican strain tie it down like when the plant is about 5 weeks old bend it over to make it lower and i usually tie around the pot in a circle to allow most light absorbtion by the buds.

my plants are about like 2-3feet and are starting to flower. is that bad?
.:Karma:. o.O
06-21-2007, 11:24 PM
i dont think so...i perfer to leave them shorter but i dont think it will matter if its that tall or not unless u have limited space...

stinky is right about bending it.
if you don't mind I took your pic and added to it.
to show you how I think you should bend it.
cuz if you bend it then your plant would have room to grow its buds.
and what kind of light do you have in there. and or how many lights R in there. looks to me like some floro lights.
I hope this pic that I drew for you helps you out some.
and if you bend it your plant would have more room for the buds to get big.
because most sativa buds get long and big. and they need the room to grow.
well good luck your plant. and I hope I was able to help out some.:D:D:D:stoned:

yeah man, thanks a lot for the pic it was quite helpful. I have a 150 watt floro on there along with another grow light I got at a gardening store. it seems to be doin the job pretty well. Regarding indica seeds, is it hard/risky shipping them to the states?
.:Karma:. o.O
06-22-2007, 07:09 AM
not really risky its unmark packages but hard yes kuzz of the price i bought 3 purplehaze 2 nl and 1 white widow and grew outdoor and it came out good but try to get more wattage in floro and what type of light is the 1 that u got from the garden store...???
crazypumpkin
06-22-2007, 12:58 PM

Hey, what better way to learn!
Actually taking the first step and growing a plant is your introduction into the growing world. It's a lot of trial and error.. So next time simply apply what you've learned from the previous grow. You'll gradually learn the basics and then you can apply them however you want.
If you haven't already.. look into getting a book. It serves as a reference as well as a "gro guide". It'll be something that you can look through whenever needed and refreshes your memory if you've forgotten small little tricks and things.
Best of luck,
Bob.

Do you have any books ud recommend bob?
stinkyattic
06-22-2007, 06:40 PM
Well I'm not Bob but my pick for books are:
BOG Bonanza of Green- simple, intuitive approach to dirt growing. Outrageously foolproof! And presented in a lighthearted way. Could use a few more pictures but hey, the ones in there of Bushy and his BOG Bushes are good for a drool.
Jorge Cervantes indoor bible- They have it at Barnes n Noble, lol. It's the super basic grow book that most of us have probably owned at one point. Contains a pretty good pictorial guide to cultivation problems and symptoms
Then when you want to get all geeky, Greg Green's breeding book is outstanding.

Hah well I just got back from the grow shop, I had to buy a replacement bulb cuz my friend in the pic knocked my fixture over accidentally. The plants been without light (well not counting my other 50 watt) for like 2 days but everythings fine now, heh.
Its still growing tho! As soon as Planty hits the fixture im gonna try bending her till those buds are ready...

[QUOTE=crazypumpkin. Its still growing tho! As soon as Planty hits the fixture im gonna try bending her till those buds are ready...[/QUOTE]
thats good. cuz it will help lots.
I learned to bend my plants when I did my 2ed grow like 5 years ago.
and every sence then it has helped a lot. a whole lot.
pluss all of the buds my plants grew ended up being all the same size by the time of harvest on all of my grows over the next 5 years.
and now 2007 and I am on my 12 full grow. and the past 5 years of growing funest thing I have ever done.
pluss kind of free weed.
anyway I wish U good luck on this grow and future grows.

yea ive never bent my plant but have used chicken wire and it worked good...but ill try tiein them down...
crazypumpkin
06-26-2007, 07:07 PM
What exactly is chicken wire?:rastasmoke:
hydrocannabis
06-26-2007, 07:26 PM
this is chicken.
but I am not a big fan of chicken wire.
I like tieing them down with shoe string much more than useing chicken wire.
and when U tie UR plant. UR gunna wanna use somthing like shoe string cuz if U use fishing wire it could really CUT UR plant.
I used fishing wire on my plants in the past and it cut the stem in half and I was so :mad:.
so after that I have been useing shoe string to tie down all of my plants.
chicken wire is better for outdoor grows to keep house animals and wild animels out of the garden.
and did U ever get a nother light for UR plant.
