Let's not forget the death of John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham, the greatest drummer who ever lived for the greatest band that ever existed, on September 25, 1980, when he was 32.
Incidentally, if he died after midnight, which is very likely (Sept. 26, 1980), he died exactly 10 years before my birth.
The worst part about his death was that, unlike The Who when Keith Moon died and they just carried on, Zeppelin immediately disbanded. Now that is probably the greatest tragedy for rock music ever.

Thank God... it was only a magazine article...I was fixin' to get upset. Do you have independent thoughts?

Oh yes, god bless dear Bonzo! I named my kitty after him. Let's trash a 'otel room, light a gong on fire (yes..."gong" with a "g" :D) and chug a 3-foot tall Heineken!
And while we're on the subject of what ruined rock 'n roll - need we mention Bruce Springsteen?

The nonstop stuidity of commercials killed FM radio. Early days of FM, were awsome!! Didnt matter how long a song was it got air!! Now if something dont fit between commercials, it dont stand a chance on FM.
Viva la Satellite Radio!! Completely addicted to it!!

commercials have ruined nearly all the media i can think of. do you think one day the might advertise on cd's? you never know the tricks those people come up with...pop up advertisments? you should be hit, advertisers.

umm yeah wtf? sgt. peppers was a great album not to mention was one of the first albums to fully take advantage of using the studio as an instrument... it's quite an important album.... this list is kinda dumb a lot of the things they brought up are just small points in rock history, and some are too insignificant to even be considered for a real list

its not the music on Sgt. Pepper's that ruined rock music, but, what the album did was draw all the popularity of people who wanted to be "cool" and turned them into "hippies". Kind of how the rap industry created this gangster fad. I wouldnt even go as far as to say it ruined rock and roll, but it sure as hell gathered lots of un-needed popularity.

MTV killed music. Its all bullshit, artificial, prepackaged youth culture thought up by some middle age marketing executives trying to sell ad space. And just when you thought hiphop was safe because it was harder to market to suburban white kids, along comes BET to do the same damn corporate raping to hiphop culture.

Harder to market to suburban white kids? They practically feed off it!

Heroin killed a shitload of rockstars. Also, when Metallica's St Anger album hit was pretty bad too.

Dude's, the worst thing to ever happen to Rock N' Roll was the birth of "Nirvana." Before them, rock music was crazy fun. Bands like Motley Crue and Poison were a blast to listen to. Then when Nirvana came along, everything went to hell. The music was no longer fun. Kids started to become goth and before you know it, Emo was born. I hate Nirvana for killing true Rock N' Roll. Anyone feel the same way?

As much as I like grunge bands they did give way to some of the worst music ever, ie emo, new punk etc.

I wont start a new thread Ill just add to this one, Now because iam a musician I totally
and TRULY!! respect other people taste in music, and when they write there own music
from there heart and soul then its like a reflection of what is going on inside there mind and
soul, and that truly is a BEAUTIFUL thing, even when there song may not be that good, but
when they are doing it from the heart it gives it value. I dont like people who SELL out, or
SELL there soul just so they can have there 15min. of fame. I like to see people on stage who are doing there thing, as there heart is bleeding, that is something that you cant take
away from them, and it kinda forces you to give them a nod of respect, now iam a singer
songwriter, and my music is Acoustic, its raw, and it is honest, and it is brutal, and even tho
there are people who dont like my stile ( think neil young or bob dylan) Ive had people buy
my cds. now hear is the rub, and I would think it has somthing to do with my age, and I know that most of you are going to hate me for this but, I hate rap music, Ive tried so hard
to give it a fair try, but as soon as I hear it my mind wants to exployed, ive tried so hard to
try to take it in, but after about 30sec. I have to turn it off are run out of the room, are throw my body under a fast moving train. Its like finger nails on a chock board. And to be honest I really feel bad about, because like I said I respect people artistic insights
but to be honest it is the worst thing my ears have ever heard on this earth, and I truly hope iam not insulting any one, but I just dont get it. now iam 47 years old and iam sure that has somthing to do with it, but in all I think it is really bad music. there I said it, ive been holding that in for about 25 years and for some reason I just had to let it out today, saturday 9/1/2007. but hey if you love rap, then God bless and keep on rapen. PEACE
