I'll be signing up for this game in about 2-3 days. I was missing the MMO type gaming scene and read up on this new mmo and I like what I read. It doesn't seem to be as big a life consumer as other mmo's yet has hordes of stuff to do.
It's garnered some great reviews by both professional and gamers reviews and with it's LotR atmosphere I'm definitely sold.
Oh and what's LotR without some pipe weed smoking eh?

I've been thinking about getting that, but I tried the Beta and didn't like it much. The complete game is probably way better.. it is ranked #1 in MMORPG.com.
Whatever that means.

Yea, I played the beta, super glitchy but that's expected with a Beta. I used to be a pretty avid WoW player and recently quit. Kind of looking for something new, but not sure if I want to get sucked into an MMO again.

FFXI best MMO!

Hated FFXI bought it on release day. Game highly forces you to team, takes forever to get parties, rude community, job system broken in the fact you have to play classes you don't want to be for 30+ levels so you can unlock your real job.

Well I played LotRO all day today, still playing it, though I need to go to bed I have a class tomorrow.
This MMO is completely awesome, shaping up to be my favorite MMO if it keeps this up

The whole "grind" that people complain about in MMOs is much improved in LotRO. For one thing killing 100000 boars outside the city for xp isn't encouraged in this game, most of the xp comes from quests and there is a lot of quests. What I like about them is the dialogue in them is top notch and makes the quests feel more important and you seem to care more about the quests, especially the storyline quests. Which is another thing. Warcraft had a lot of lore to fall back on, but it's almost nothing compared to the lore and nostalgia to be found in LotRO.
Any grinding you do, do doesn't seem as annoyiing, probably because on top of the all the nice questing you have these deeds to earn titles, almost like Xbox Live achievements So going out and killing a bunch of Goblins might earn you a nice little title to sport around, all these nice little rewards/titles break up any tedium I might have while leveling. The character models look like they could come from WoW but the environments are absolutely gorgeous.
I haven't encountered anything that's given me a negative vibe yet. Granted I've only just begun (one full days play in a MMO is absolutely nothing in the scheme of things) But considering I just came off of quiting WoW just a few months back I would think any annoying traits in the game would irritate me rather quickly.

Then call Turbine customer support:

2) When asked about what kind of support select: Account Management
3) When asked about what game select Lord of the Rings Online
4) When the person on the phone answers, they ask you for your first and last name, give it to them.
5) When they ask you for the account name say: "I don't have an account, I was told if I call this number you would give me a buddy key".

No problem,
I just got done switching my profession I was building from armorer to a farming profession. It told me in the instructions that I'll be learning to be a master cultivater of Pipe Weed.
You have to know I cheered for that. My character has a bunch of pipe weed seeds of various types in his baggy and I got my farming tool...now to find a farm I guess. I probably will need to leave the snow filled blue mountains to find one. I'm going to have the best Pipe Weed plants in all of Middle-Earth.
Hah that game sounds pretty chilled, is there any pvp?

There's a different take on PvP in LotRO called PvMP (Player vs Monster Player) You bascially get a secondary "Evil" character to play with if you want when you get your main character to lv 10 in the game. This Evil character you choose starts off at lv 50 and you can train him and equip him just like your real character. You go around doing evil quests and fighting high level "Good" Player characters. On the other side of the fence once your real character hits 40 you can participate in PvMP on the good side and fight other evil player characters.
Nice this game sounds real chilled, i hated how in WoW everything is all structured, i just want to farm some pipeweed damnit!

..ironic. Not what two days after I give you that information, and Turbine stops giving buddy keys that way.
I was waiting to give my buddy key to a friend, but I haven't been able to get in touch with him in a couple weeks now. So if you want the buddy key, give me an email address to send it to for you.
[email protected] (usually junk email adress, dont want to put real one here)
and what realm are you on?

So you are not hanging around waiting, I'm still at work when I get home where the booklet is, I'll send you the code then and post here telling you I did so.
Its 3pm here now, I'll be home around 7pm.

I'm assuming Jeko's been having a good time in the game. I haven't played much the past couple days mainly from being tired from school/work. Logged in last night just long enough to tackle a quest I had in my quest log for quite awhile. Trying to build up more money to work on my Pipe Weed farming. I'm already a Master Apprentice of Tier 1 Farmer, working on Journeyman Farmer now.
