can male pollen pass through a carbon filter?

I don't know... but a carbon filter is not a filter in the way that like a couple pieces of stocking stretched over the end of your intake is... it simply consists of the carbon which is in small bits to maximize surface area, where the aromatic molecules that cause odor bind, thus trapping the odor CHEMICALLY rather than physically like a regular filter does.
I don't know if pollen can get through in between the carbon bits, but anyway if you suspect that you will have pollen about, you are going to want to use a HEPA filter.
