It is my first ticket in 6 years...I havent even been pulled over since then...I wasnt stoned, but when I was digging for my reg and insurance, I was trying to make sure he didnt see the papers in the glove compartment..he said he was going to give me a ticket for speeding but decided to just give me a warning on that..but I did get a ticket for no seatbelt..geez, he broke my streak...that was my last ticket too. I need some automatic seatbelts or something.
OK, when was your last ticket? and what the hell did you do?

you should always wear your seat belt, but I dont think it should be a legal matter if you're over 16.
I've never gotten a ticket, but I dont drive

I'm not suggesting you do this, but if a cop is well enough behind you it's extremely easy to just speed up and get away as long as they don't get your tags. Again, not suggesting anything, just saying.

The last ticket I got was for speeding. I didn't slow down enough when a 55 M.P.H. road wound down to 35. I was about an hour and one-half away from my home.

My last ticket was almost 2 years ago. I had just bought a car from a friend, but it wasn't registered or insured yet. I tried to sneak it home, but a fire engine red hot rod turbo doesn't sneak too well, and I got pulled over. The cop searched my car, and I had weed in my purse. He searched my purse and I dont know how he didn't find the pot, but somehow he didn't! So they towed my car. I showed up in court with proof of insurance and registration, and the judge reduced the ticket to $10.00. Ten dollars! Crazy!

Well, first of all.....where you guilty of speeding or NOT wearing a seat belt?
If you were guilty of speeding and you take it to trial, it's the cop's word against yours.
I've had 4 seatbelt tickets in my entire life. I vowed to fight anymore seatbelt tickets. At least in California, it's a 50/50 chance the cop will show up to trial for a seatbelt ticket. They just rarely don't want to waste time. It's hard to comment being that I don;t know the exact circumstances.

ya, when you take it to traffic court the cop gets payed, but he has to go on his day off. So you just have to ask yourself if the cops thinks ittl be worth it

December 17th give or take...81 in a 45 on a four-lane. I was looking at him as I flew by pretty much knowing I was fucked. It all ended with him telling me "Merry Christmas!" and giving me an unusual amount due of $131...
I thought the Merry Christmas part was pretty shitty, but hey I'm not complaining with a ticket that low...

If you were guilty of speeding and you take it to trial, it's the cop's word against yours.
You must not haven been to traffic court lately. It'll be the cop's record from his speed-detector, which is a 360-degree detector nowadays, and is always on monitoring the speed of traffic all around. In most departments, the speed detector reading will be visible on the video record of the stop, too. So it's Geo's word against the science of speed-detection. The judge'll believe the machinery. Nearly all departments use that same technology these days precisely so it isn't anyone's word against theirs. The detector serves as an indisputable scientific record.
I haven't gotten a ticket since I was a teenager. And I've been stopped plenty of times. I'm always appropriately contrite, never lie about the fact that I was speeding, and I show them my EMS ID card that shows my paramedic license, freely admitting that I know better than to go above the posted speed, having worked in fire-rescue. They can't ever argue with that, and they're always reluctant to cite a fellow--even a former--public servant. This is why my husband always has me drive if we need to make good time getting someplace: because I can speed with impunity. They never buy his "I'm trying to get to a desperately ill patient in a hospital" lie because he he pretends not to have been aware he was speeding before he tries to make it sound like he's on hiw way to a medical emerency. He doesn't know how to play the game.
420Marijuana420, even if it wasn't a suggestion, the idea of running from a cop is a stupid idea nonetheless. They can magnify the recorded images from their dash-cams and see a lot of detail even on distant license plates. Only absolute idiots run from cops, which just makes the charges worse when they're eventually caught, which inevitably happens. Cops and firefighters go to court all the time during their regular work shifts, by the way. If they're summoned during their regular shifts, they go to court and their commanding officer finds additional patrol or fire-rescue coverage. If they're summoned on their days off, they get paid overtime for the time spent in court. They're required to go when they're summoned, which happens on both working and non-working days.

Just to clear it up. I did not get a ticket for speeding, just the seatbelt..he said normally he dosen't give speeding tickets until the person is over 15 mph over the posted speed limit. I thanked him for his leniance (sp?) gave him my licence and registration, but couldn't find my insurance..he said he was going to his car and for me to look for it...I thought to myself that this guy trusts me to look for it...I could be going for a gun or something. LOL. Of course I dont even own a gun. HAHA! He must know that, those guys always are very perceptive of body language. Anyway, it was cool, I just got the seatbelt ticket...My truck even does the ding, ding, ding thing when you dont have it on...sometimes I barely even hear it:stoned:

They do seem to have an uncanny second sense about folks who are threats--at least the smart, intuitive ones do. But even then they sometimes get shot.
Please tell me you normally wear your seat belt? I hope so. Accidents where people die or have disfiguring facial injuries for the rest of their lives because they didn't have a seatbelt on are the worst. And those fatalities or injuries are totally preventable.
Here are two other things never to do while you're driving (besides talk on the cell phone, which I'll admit some people can handle, or drink and drive): Never drive with a pen or pencil held in your mouth. And always have the outward edge of the sun visor, if you're using it, angled away from your face toward the windshield, never angled inward toward your face. People can lose their eyesight from visor injuries even in minor accidents.

I got an MIP in October... I almost made it to 21 safely.
Last traffic citation I got was four years ago: careless driving, violation of privileges (6 month rule) and 44 in a 25. That sucked.

a little over 4 years ago, i rear-ended a car and got a ticket for "following too closely"
i wasn't the one who caused the accident, but of course the person who rear-ends is almost always at fault
my ticket was for like $80 but when i showed up and pled guilty to the traffic court judge, he reduced it to $60
i'm sure i'm gonna get my 1st speeding ticket soon with the way i drive, though...
hell, i kinda view speeding tickets as yearly dues to the high speeds club :rastasmoke:

I've only gotten parking violations. I got them a lot in high school, because finding a parking place was REALLY hard. One of them was for parking too close to a hydrant, one for being too close to a bus stop, and another for my registration being overdue.
Never been arrested, either.

i have only gotten two tickets, and they were both parking citations from upd on campus because my school over-sells the parking decals by thousands and then thinks it's ok to ticket students when they can't find a damn parking spot....
i've only been pulled over for speeding once, and i was going 65 in a 35, it was 3 am or so, i was extreeeeeeeeeemely drunk (i know, i know, that's a bad idea, and i don't drive drunk anymore, thank god i never was in an accident while i was driving drunk) off of half a fifth of jager and half a fifth of rum. so i was pretty fucking drunk. but somehow i was able to appear sober for 5 minutes while i talked to the cop and he just gave me a warning...he asked if i had been drinking, and i just gave him my best smile and said "no sir". and he didn't even breathalyze me or make me get out of the car

My latest ticket was for fucking underage drinking....and less than 3 months away from my 21st no less...
I am still not to happy about it, simply because there are better things to be doing than busting underagers. We can go to war in America and smoke cigs at 18, but I can't have a drink legally 'til I'm 21?! Fuck that noise.

To IAP..that law is fucked...I did 3 years in the Army and when I got out I was 20..and I still couldn't drink:wtf:

lol i used to drive drunk all the time during my freshman year of college...i had a bad problem with alcohol abuse that year...yikes. but i hardly drink anymore now, mostly just in social settings. oh shit once i drove about 20 mins after hitting some salvia, and yeah that was a baaaaaaaaaad idea...i almost rear-ended someone because i thought that time had slowed down and i was going in slow motion, so i was barely able to stop in time...that was not fun...
oh and iap, i totally agree. i think it's bullshit to waste all this time / money catching underage drinkers...my little college town just passed a bullshit keg ordinance, and has been doing a lot lately and spending a lot of money trying to cut down on underage drinking...here's an article from our campus paper about the keg ordinance...bullshit? i think so.

You got a ticket in the fast track. WTF! I think that one is close to $300. My seatbelt ticket will be about $50 at the most...shit, I will probably go to court that day if I am available and see if I can beat it for fun..I will get real blazed, put some clear eyes in...put on a tie on and be real nice to the judge and see what happens. I figure if I beat it, it is just like I made $50.
