I play futbol, smoke every day and it has absolutely no effect to my lungs or the amount of energy that I have. My personal belief is that it's different for every person and depending how they and their body reacts to cannabis. I would say to give it a try for yourself and if you notice a difference then you can just stop and your problem will go away.

cannabis does not negativey effect the lungs at all. tobacco bunches up your lungs and kills the air sacs in your lungs called aveoli. cannabis contains thc which open up the lungs, which is why its good for asthma, and cannabis smoke stays in your major air ways in your lungs unlike tobacco which goes deep into your lungs. ive been smoking for a while now and im more physically fit than i was before i started. i also know alot of jocks who smoke weed. if your worried about it, id invest in a vaporizer

A joint or two every month wouldn't hurt if you're into sports like that. The trick is not to start smoking all heavily and stuff. I really don't think heavy smoking and sports mix, that's just my opinion. Some people probably can do it but me being the person that I am I honestly couldn't.

man, I don't think it fucks with you that bad.

I mean, for like a week I went out 'n skated while I smoked, I got so good at skating that week.

but that skating. Although I'd like to think if I played sports I'd be able to perform just as well.

Cannabis and sports dont really go well together but if you just smoke it occasionally you will be ok as long as you dont do it all the time.

At the end of the day i suppose it comes to whats more important to you sports or weed??

You need to do more research. Smoked cannabis does indeed affect the lungs negatively. It's not associated with an increased risk of lung cancer, but it does raise people's likelihood of developing pulmonary infections such as bronchitis or pneumonia, causes irritation and inflammation, reduces vital (lung) capacity, diminishes oxygen saturation, and, over time, diminishes the elasticity of the alveoli. There are other negative pulmonary consequences, too. Any inhaled burning vegetable matter does this. If people could ingest THC alone without the rest of the cannabis combustion by-products, it'd be much better for their pulmonary health. But inhaled cannabis smoke is not good for the lungs.

Cannabis smoke, by the way, doesn't only stay in the major airways, or bronchial tubes/bronchioles. That is yet another persistent myth. The bronchial tubes and bronchioles aren't set up for 02-C02 gas-exchange. All inhalant transfer, whether we're talking about oxygen/air, anesthesia, cigarette smoke, cannabis smoke, or other inhalable recreational substances that we can't discuss here, occurs through the alveoli, the tiny air sacs. The other parts of the lungs are simply designed to expand to help transport the air or inhalants to the alveoli.

Depends on how serious you are with it. If you are looking to go to a D1 school and you have to really focus on it, I wouldn't smoke that often.

If you are just doing it for a little competition, then it's really no problem.

I play in a Tennis league, I ball, I cycle, I'm about to join a kickball league. In the meantime, I do alot of workouts in the gym, lots of pylotechnics to improve certain attributes, I run around with a sled with weights to improve my overall conditioning. Weed definitely helps me relax after such intense work-outs, with in turn, helps with performance when playing sports.

It's how you maintain yourself. That's all there is to it.

I don't play team sports anymore, I play basketball with my friends and I don't feel it. But a lot of my friends play football for school and they claim that when they smoke and have to go to practice it hurts their lungs. idk why they would lie.

i play football and over the summer ive had to do this conditioning camp for school... hardest running and workouts ive ever been put through and honestly weed hasnt affected my breathing at all noticably... in fact i can run farther and faster than ever before... just dont be stupid about it. if you exercise(obviously you do being in all those sports) than youll be perfectly fine. for real i say dont worry about it. two of the my best friends also smoke a shitload of weed and drink all the time. there livers are probably fucked but they are two of the best football players in our grade. and even if you do notice negative affects... just stop...

alright well then maybe it doesn't cause problems. I don't notice it either, but I've had people tell me they do, idk.

When I smoke the black stuff, it gives me energy. I don't know why, i think its because its just so damn good for you. Smoke it pure and you'll be fine. All the strenuous exercise and breathing that goes along with it will far outwieght the negative effects from smoking weed, of which there are arguably none. Just don't smoke directly after exercise.

i run at least 2 miles a day. as long as you dont get high before you do it you are fine. really it i love doing it because now i also never ever get that burnt out lazy feeling i got with doing nothing while smoking. whereas if i smoke a pack of cigarettes the day before(i dont smoke cigs daily) i really really feel it in my lungs and am wheezing by the end. i dont buy weed as often as i used to now but when i do buy it i smoke at least once a day. i find it is a nice way to relax after you work out

Listen to birdgirl, she seems to be the only one that actually knows what she's talking about, (including me). ;) I think a lot of people get lost when comparing marijuana smoke to tobacco smoke because they think tobacco smoke is far more dangerous, then they start thinking marijuana smoke is perfectly safe. Any smoke, no matter where it came from, can't be healthy on your lungs. Just look inside a dirty bong or pipe and imagine all that gunk building up inside your lungs, can you honestly say there isn't any health concerns with that? If the smoke really was harmless, why would people be buying vaperizers costing well over $300 to eliminate 90% of the toxins associated with regular smoking?

You don't smoke a lot so you might not notice any difference at all, but personally, if doing those sporting activities was a high priority in my life I would quit the weed. If sports was an important part of my life I would do everything I could to stay healthy, especially with my lungs!

I smoked a lot through tennis...did pretty good. But shit...it aint the weed that's gonna kill you...but the huge schedule. I say take it easy....I like sports...but I don't like overworking yourself with sports. Yikes.

I know anything smoked affects the lungs, but through experience, I'd say cannabis doesn't do much. When I was 15-17 in HS, I was at my peak of smoking. Sometimes a few times a week, sometimes everyday, sometimes multiple times a day...[also while drinking heavily and experimenting]. Still played basketball every year in HS as well as ran X-Country a few years among intramural sports. We ran anywhere from 3-8 miles a day in X-C, sometimes even smoking before, and noticed no drop off. If it hindered my performance, I would have stopped point blank. I still play sports all the time as well as work out.

Again like with the motivation thing, it's up to the individual to decide...the only person who will know is you.

I feel like I play sports better when I'm high. I feel more relaxed and don't worry about making mistakes. I also feel like my cordination is never affected either. I don't know it's probablly different for every person.
