Just got pinched recently for dealing in Wisconsin, part of the terms of my plea agreement calls for drug testing and some jail time still. I have quit smoking (1 week ago) and won't have my first potential UA from my probation officer until July 10th.

I am going to have to do jailtime for a week or so starting the 18th. I got handed a packet after signing up and part of the terms of work release program requires a drug test immediately following admission, and if I fail I won't be granted work release. Is anyone familair with the drug screening before going to jail? Could I potentially not be granted work release for trace amounts of THC in my system or are these screens primarily used to see if people have recently done harder drugs/if they have done anything that day before going in?

If my question is unclear let me know, thanks for the help in advance.

I am almost certain if you get drug tested they will include marijuana. It is part of the NIDA-5, the most basic multiple panel (panel meaning controlled substance) drug test. NIDA-5 includes THC, cocaine, PCP, opiates, and amphetamines. They can test for many more if they like but you can almost be certain THC will be included and not overlooked.

You will have a little more than a month for your body to get clean. The only things that can help your body get clean is time, aerobic exercise, and a low fat diet with soluble fiber. If I understand correctly, you will be starting your jail time soon so this things may be hard to accomplish. Most people get clean in about 30 days or less but some chronic smokers may take 30+ days to get clean. It looks like they are going with the assumption you should be clean because you are locked up.

To answer your question further can you give your height and weight and a more complete smoking history?

BTW it isn't so much "trace" amounts. Through research scientists and doctors have determined thresholds on drug tests that correlate to levels that indicate use and not passive exposure and these thresholds are used across the board in most cases. I hope that makes sense.

I am 5'10 and 145 pounds, I know there is no possibility that I will pass this drug screening for jailtime and I am not so much concerning myself with faking it. I was just wondering if they would at all excersize some discression because of the fact I quit smoking almost immediately after getting caught and havent since being formally charged, i just happen to be serving part of my sentence during this month period. I did not know if jails typically put more emphasis on the screening to see if people are doing or have done drugs immediately before entering jail.

Actually you might pass because you are very skinny, but you still won't tell your complete smoking history. Throw in your physical activity level while you are at it.

The times that they exhibit discretion is usually when you have a PO smart enough to understand drug testing and they do several tests over several days to see if your level is dropping.

I just weighed myself, actually i'm 135 now, and I don't know if this is worth being noted but I've hardly gained more than a pound in the past 3 years

As for my smoking history, while I was dealing I smoked around 1/8th per day but that was in February, since then I've still smoked around 1g per day (I don't really know how much actually, typically I went through that much with 2-3 others present, I rarely smoke alone)

I guess i'll give it my best to try and pass, the test is monday.

From reading your advice in other threads you say to stay hydrated, drink 64 oz. of water 2 hours before and take vitamin b6 and b12. I have multivitamins at my house but they are the daily ones that give you basically 100% of each vitamin in a single tablet (including b6 and 12), will this suffice or should I get some specific stuff?

I haven't been extremely active lately as far as excersize goes. If you think it seems worth my while I will excersize via running the next few days. My community service assignment was a garden that I basically slave over for usually 10-12 hours a day busting my ass, would you recommend further excersize in my free time?

As far as diet goes, what specific foodstuffs would you recommend for this fiber diet? I was thinking loading up on bran cereal, apples, and celery. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the help and i'm really glad you took the time to reply to my thread. After searching the forums you seem to be one of the most qualified to give advice and I appreciate it.

EDIT: I'm not even going to attempt to smoke while on probation I'm just going to do it without issue and get done with it as fast as possible, my main concern is with this upcoming one because I would rather spend all my time at work and just go back to jail to sleep rather than just sit there all day.

Sorry for the doublepost-- missed the time window for another edit.

Well after re-reading this packet i've gotten I found out a lot more stuff I just kindof freaked the first time through.

Apparently I only have to serve 3 days.
With that said In the "rules and regulations" handout I got it says the following
"You will be subject to random urinalysis testing as well as a preliminary breath test. It is very important that you answer truthfully when asked of recent use of prescribed, over the counter, or illigal drugs upon your admission to the facility. You will be charged blah blah blah

Though my charges are drug related, do you think they will honestly waste their time since the drug test isn't manditory nor preliminary just "Random" and I'm only serving 3 days.

Not to bump my old thread, but tomorrow is the day and I still have some unanswered questions, it's at 9 A.M. so speedy answers would be much appreciated.

Also I had a few questions about dillution of the sample. As far as vitamin intake goes, all i have is a "centrum silver" multivitamin which has Vitamin B12 25mcg (417% daily recommended dosage) Because it is not specifically a vitamin for just B12 would I be at any risk for taking too much of it? And because it seems to have a stronger dosage of vitamin b12 compared to other vitamins how much would you recommend taking?

Also any feedback from someone who has served jail time and as to how likely I am to be subjected to their "random urinalysis" though i'm only serving 3 days my charges are drug charges, any quick feedback appreciated.

It is B 2 riboflavin you want not B 12. This is the least important part of the test as color alone can't be used to test validity. It is slightly important in instant drug testing when they use the strips and color may prevent it from going to the lab.

You may get an instant test when you get to jail. I wouldn't consider it them just trying to scare you.

What else?

I read your recipe, change the water to gatorade or another sports drink! Good luck, hopefully you will get to check this before the test.

Well I just took aspirin and have been drinking plenty of cranberry, all I have at home are multivitamins that give 125% Riboflavin per, I don't think it'd be entirely safe to take 8 of them so I dunno about that one. It is a pass/fail quick test, what do you recommend I do?

Take 1 of the multivitamins now then another 1- 1 & 1/2 hours before the test. If you are already in that time window then take both now. Again, the least important step.

You are taking the instant test I see. Well they still can do validity testing but just go with the fluid volumes recommended in that sticky and replace what you void. You have a good chance of passing.

Regardless whether I pass or fail I cannot thank you enough for the informed, quick, and and early responses from you. Ill post my results on wednesday when I get out.

Thanks again.
