So basically my whole life I've been into the metal. Metallica, Motorhead, Rammstein, Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, Sepultura, you name it, all the ranges.
Lately though I guess my tastse are chilling out. While I still love some good death metal, I often want something more chill. Lately I've really been getting into Tool and A Perfect Circle (albeit "Emotive" was crap IMO). I really like the chilled out songs, especially the psychadelic stuff, and I was wondering if somebody can recommend some music somewhere around these lines. Actually even though I only recently discovered Tool, they're doing what I've wanted to do for years, make a type of music that's based in metal but chilled out rather than angry (though the type I want to make is still qutie different).
So any recommendations in that ballpark?

Hurt
They are what Tool wishes they could be.
Hurt's Myspace Page (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=34810816)
They have the top 3 songs of theirs available right now... they have one album out, almost finished with the second, and if you are looking for some damn fine rock, they are where its at.
*edit* I recommend listening to Rapture first, probably one of their better songs. Really though, all of Volume 1 is pretty amazing. *edit*

This is a no brainer, but Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here.... can't go wrong with any of those albums. The Wall is a bit darker, but still totally awesome. And Atom Heart Mother rocks, too.
Ever heard of the Alan Parsons Project? Check out their second album, I-Robot.
The Doors -- They're rockin' and totally laid back at the same time.
King Crimson -- They're a little more 'out there', but I dig 'em. I think my favorite album of theirs is probably Thrak.
Porcupine Tree - I've heard them compared to Tool... I wouldn't say their too similar, but they have an interesting sound, you might want to check them out.
some people i know that are into hard metal are in to drum and bass....?

Some mellower alternative bands like Saosin, The Recieving End Of Sirens, Rise Against, Senses Fail are all really really good
