Oh, heavens, guys. You know what, thanks. But I'll be honest. I work with a team of the best mods there are, and I literally mean every single other one of them. We've had a bit of tension among ourselves recently that I won't go into more detail about here. Thankfully it's not been visible on the member boards. But I wanna take this opportunity to send out my affection and respect not only to you guys for saying nice things but to my fellow mods. I appreciate each of you, even when we disagree, and I hope the same is true of you, too.

CannabisC, Ipodguy, and THCBongman, I accept your kind words on behalf of my excellent mod colleagues, with whom I'm honored to work. Much love to you all. . . .

I think all the mods work very hard with few tangible benefits other than being able to say they manage a great site where many like-minded folks can hang out and have fun discussions- no small accomplishment!
Still, Birdgirl stands out - her compassion and intelligence reveal a rare spirit- no offence to the other mods, as I don't know them as well, but Birdgirl is what they used to call, in Hollywood, "a class act"

Birdgirl, you've got style, class, and SUBSTANCE.
Even if you weren't a mod I'd still listen to you!
Hell, here's some rep for being so helpful in general!

Well, H4H, take it as a compliment and as my saying that you were right about the respect factor--and as an overture of peace! That's the spirit in which it was made.

Thank you, Foxy, for your kind words.

ah my friend, one of these days, it would be great to meet you and your dear husband in person- you both have an open invitation to visit if you are ever in the Boston area:hippy:

How sweet! If there's a trip to Boston in the offing, I'm coming without Dave, much as I love the guy. I feel there's much more potential for fun with a ladies' get-together. He plays golf? I get to go kick up my heels with my favorite friends. It seems only fair.

Even better.
I bet we could talk stinky into joining us as we tear up boston!

I'm down for sure. Hempfest at the LATEST, promise!!!! In fact, a ladies-who-lunch thing beforehand might be just the ticket. Shall we put on our proper little boucle suits and gloves and hit the Gardner Museum cafe for a spot of tea?

I do feel loved. And I love you guys a great deal.

But also a bit frightened. I don't own a proper boucle suit or gloves, Stinky! I'd rather the three of enjoy the wonderful pretties at the Gardner while wearing jeans and sweaters, then head over to Legal Sea Foods and have our tea while eating something properly messy and casual, like lobstuh.

You da man, Geonagual. And you da best!

You know who helped me with my avatar? Minnesota Man!!! I wouldn't be Birdgirl without him. The strangest thing is I'm not at all birdlike, unless perhaps you consider the gawky long-leggedness of an ostrich. I'm sort of afraid of birds, to be honest. But the nickname came from my husband's references to me as "Bird," as in "chick."

Are you sure?

I could of sworn it was Sensiride who gave you 4 different av's to choose from..and the one you have now, is the one you chose.
or maybe I dont know what the heck I am talking about.

Legal Seafoods= too proper to eat lobstah the way it's meant to be eated, which is at a picnic table with plastic tablecloth and a raincoat for butter splashes! :D However their jalapeno/cheddar polenta is to DIE for.

Brooklyn Lobster is an excellent little movie about a lobster restaurant in financial trouble. Filmed at, and based on, a real family restaurant, Jordan's Lobster Dock, located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. It stars Danny Aiello, and is on DVD.

I thought Legal Seafoods was casual. Or at least didn't it start out that way?

You know what? You DO know what you're talking about and have a better memory than I do!!

SensiRide originally found me three or four bird-related avatars to choose from and very kindly sent them to me. I choose the girl with the bird since it went best with my name. I almost went with a bluebird on a fence, which I still have saved here on my machine. I offered that one to Dave when he signed up, but he wanted a heart avatar instead of a bluebird.

Then when I became a mod, they told me mods' avatars are supposed to be a little larger. I wasn't graphically proficient enough to make the original birdgirl avatar bigger on my own, but Minnesota Man went out to an image site, found the original art, made it the right size, toned up the green and other colors, gave her a bit more in the boob department (the original Birdgirl was very flat-chested), and voila. The current Birdgirl avatar was born. But you're exactly right. SensiRide deserves the original credit for Birdgirl. Minnesota Man reworked the file and enhanced it for the mod version of Birdgirl. I tip my hat to them both. And to you for remembering so well!

Casual yes... but in the way that 'casual fridays' are casual. I still would not be gettin' medieval on my crustacean there.

"That best portion of a good man's life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love."

Enjoy your day!

Thanks, Stinky! I made that signature and then promptly started un-checking the add-signature box because I decided it took up too much room. But I still like the quote. The English Romantic poets were one of my scholarly focuses when I was in school.

You have a good day, too, Stink. We're waiting for my parents and my sister and brother-in-law to come over so we can take everyone out for Thai food for Father's Day lunch. It's pouring rain and has been for two days, so everyone's running late. (And my dogs refuse to go outside to the bathroom, which ought to be lovely when the excitement from arriving guests kicks in.)
