I was watching mystery hunters the other day and they had a section about the biggest whale 'meglaton'? its pronounced that way. Those things are said to be really really really really big but they didn't show a picture of it. I would totally FREAK if something that big came swimming up behind me.. but anyway what do you all know about the biggest sea creature? As far as I know the meglaton is the biggest shark that -was- known to man.
Have any pics? Well clostest i can find is the great white shark, damn that thing is huge!

i agree.

orcas (killer whales) kill sharks by torpedoing up into the shark's stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode.

i don't remember where i found that...so i don't know if it's true or not...but if it's true, then it's pretty kick ass. exploding sharks. hell yeah.

(i tried to tell if that's what was happening in the killer whale video, but i wasn't quite sure...)

I know they aren't the biggest, but the coolest ones have to be narwhals. They're like underwater unicorns!

blue whale is the longest known, a certain type of jelly fish is by far the longest it is like 2.5x as long as a giant squid or more. i have this book called incredible comparisons that just compares things like that and has full illustrations for all of it. i havent looked at it in awhile but normally pick it up once a year or so. if anyone has seen those cross section books it is a lot like that. anyhow blue whale weighs the most and this type of jelly fish is the longest, but really id say its unknown as the ocean is pretty deep im sure there are some behemoths down there lurking somewhere

it's said to be extinct so no need to worry (i say 'said' because no one's seen one, although, the ocean is huge and we still find new things everyday there, so there could still be a cuople hiding somehwere)

in recent years they've been caught numerous times, but they die almost instantly, they've also been filmed...

if i remember right just one of their main tentacle arms (squid have 8 tentacles then 2 much longer arms) is about 20 feet long and have eyes as big around as dinner plates.

Blue whales are the largest animal which ever lived on earth. Giant squid are not even in the running, sperm (LOL) whales fed on little else. It's dolphins that kill sharks by ramming them, not killer whales.

erm... ever heard of gigantosaur? (wouldn't suprise me if you hadn't... it was just recently discovered in the last 10-20 years or so... but dwarfed even t-rex)

then of course there were brantosaurs and their near relatives...

and those are just in the 'dinosaur' period (triassic?) there have been even larger animals...

your momma at the beach, lol.
j/k...i went deep sea fishing once and jumped off the boat. its a very very scary feeling floating above a mile deep of cold water knowing there are all kinds of big scary things under your feet. theres just this unkown void sloshing about under you and you can't even touch the bottom if you tried. thats creepy.

MOBY DICK! The great White Whale. Not only a classic piece of literature by Melville, but the movie with Gregory Peck as the charismatic master seaman and whaler Capt. Ahab was also very good.

It was inspired by a true story, the sinking of the whaleship the Essix, by an enraged sperm whale.

well, the blue whale was the largest animal, land or sea to roam the earth, the next closest is this dinosaur: Bruhathkayosaurus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruhathkayosaurus) which isn't even proven to be 40 meters.

slipknotpsycho

it is believed to be the largest animal to have ever lived on Earth,[2][3] though some recent, albeit controversial, dinosaur discoveries may contradict this long-held belief (see Bruhathkayosaurus).

btw the dino i was talking about... Giganotosaurus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giganotosaurus)
