Happened to mention LED lights to another grower & he has some red LED lights for his car. Stips that go along the side skirts etc. Obviously it would mean riggin up a car battery or convertor. Would there be a sufficient benefit for it to be worth the hassle/risk?

there are now LED lamp setups, specifically for growing - mixed reactions so far on the feasibility of it - PROS: low heat, long life, low power consumption - CONS: $$$$$$$$$$ per lumen, takes a whole bunch of them lil things - probably will be a better situation, after prices come down (LEDs are much cheaper now, than just a couple years ago, prices will continue to drop, probably) - :smokin:

the way i see it is there is a wrong way and a right way to do things. im not saying it wouldnt work what i am saying is it wont be the same its wont do as good! if so we could just get dirt outta our backyards never buy soil or nutes. cuz the plant will grow however will be nowhere close to the same quality. stick to HID MH HPS and floros is you must:D

Yea FWF Ive seen the prices from the main thread discussing LED's & checking @ ebay. For now my money is going on a 600W HPS. The crack with these is I can have them free if there of any use & since I have a 4' climbing to 5' monster in the closet :stoned: I was wondering if the benefit of using long strips to get light to lower nodes would be worth riggin something up.
I have read most of the discussion on LED's including the use of tailights although not sure if these side strips are the same. If anyone has a grow log on it post a link & I'll have a read.

Jack - this is not accurate information. Do like Sharing suggested and search led's on this site.
FWFrank gave a pretty darn good synopsis of the current situation with led's.

600 watt hps will be plenty what you can do is put floro tubes on the wall going up the length of the plant you can get those for cheap honestly the trouble youd have to do with the rigging and all that its not worth it like i said the 600 watt hps will be exelent get a mh conv. bulb thats my set up and its GRRRREEEEAT
