View Full Version : Wow, How did I stay off the soil train for so long?

just thought I'd share my lovely day playing with soil. Had an extra seedling due to planting too many.....worried about another runt like the last seedling and of course now have an extra. Figured I'd put it in soil.....because soil is so easy....and so wonderful....and anyone can do it......what BULLSHIT!!:wtf:

Had my pot all filled up with clean, new potting soil and perlite....run water through to test ph....ooops won't drain....water just sits there......drill more holes....nope....no difference. Then while fucking around with it I dropped it and spilled mud everywhere which took me an hour to clean off of EVERYTHING....the floor, tables, me etc etc.. Don't know how many trees they'll have to cut now to equal the paper towels I had to use in the name of doing things naturally.

So move outside with the flies and heat and start over....more perlite....nope....less perlite....nope......add some rocks.....nope...the lousy shit simply won't drain no matter what. Keep in mind this is the same soil that drains too well with my onions.....imo the whole deal just wants to fuck with me. On pot number five...also with new different potting soil.....it drains ok with simply potting soil....no perlite or anything else added. Wow only three hours spent screwing around with this and the seedling is still nowhere near the soil. Oh but look, lol, it's now too heavy to work with with strictly soil in it so can't use it anyway....

Yeah, I'm on to this and tossing my hydro setup asap.....;)

Ps,....Still either going to have to setup and extra hydro bucket for this MK fem seedling (which I really didn't want to do and still don't) or destroy it which is like throwing away $$ imo. Soil here i come......

I spoke to a good friend of mine the other day.....well she was a good friend until this soil bs.....but anyway.....she accidently had her seeds in a tin that went through her washer....she planted them anyway and they all sprouted great.....that bitch.

Then I ask her what she planted them in and she says....."oh....my bad....just last years' potting soil that was still there."

I hate you soil people......all of you. :wtf:

It's OK - Dawg - you're just having a bad reaction to the soil. You need to flush and get it out of your system before you go into mental defiency.

When you take off all the clothes you were wearing during your ordeal, put them in a trash bag and, after your flush, put them directly in the washing machine. For your flush you need to soak in a hot tub for at least an hour - make sure to clean under your finger nails thoroughly - followed by a nice long shower. That should pretty well detox you, at which point you can start the recovery process. At this point it's a good idea to adjust your pH or top off your reservoir, anything hydro to take your mind off your horrible ordeal with the soil.

Remember, if you start to feel like you might want to play with the soil again, yo9u can always find support in the hydro section and someone there can surely talk you thru it.

Rock you have seen NOTHING when it comes to me and soil. Who invented that shit anyway?

So....this seedling isn't following the book. It's still alive.....not only that....it's bigger....it seems to have actually grown. :( I can already tell this thing is going to be a problem plant from beginning to end because I have no where to put it.....

The hydro seedlings won't be seen with it.....snobs
It's 98 degrees outside right now....in June. God I love summer.
The cats will think it's catnip so the living room is out....
How about the lighting from a pc laptop....enough for vegging? :stoned:

It's already been booted from the hydro table (no room) to outside now back to inside. From some bizarre reason it's not dying....I just don't understand that because I've done my usual share here. I don't know what it's problem is. :wtf:

PS....That's pot number six you're looking at.....my friend had to talk me through it.

Be very very careful outside - inside - outside - inside stuff sis.
You will be way way bent if you bring spidermites etc... in w/ it and spread it to your hydro girls .

I will never give up on dirt , every last lil bean we germ = the best looking oines in hydro and progressivly try to get the dirt thing right w/ the left over seedlings . Can't throw expensive beans away ??? I'm as tight as your ducks ass , -n- it's watertight . :)

Keep at it .

I hear you X-C about the bugs etc....didn't even think about that....well didn't think it would live really......should I leave it inside then? Or just outside with some prayer? My big issue with inside is the lighting.....I should just put it outside in the shade and keep it damp? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS STUPID SOIL THING......

PS...I put her back outside....I'll leave her there. ;)

leave it out side in the shade and introduce it to the sun a little bit at a time over 10 days, you will have to keep a eye on her that the soil dont dry up on you, and raise her off the floor put the pot on a box and around the box on the floor i would use some pest repelant to stop any besties getting to the plant.good luck you can do this wh,but it will grow so slow at first:thumbsup:

Well here's my soil seedling....looking suspiciously very bonsai to me. I'm not going to do anything with it so if it stays small I'll just yank it. Another 100 degree day outside so I'm not going to be working with it in the heat all summer when I can sit inisde with my hydro set-up and grow much better plants......ones that actually grow and give me something back.

wtf girl? i think you have a hex on your place or something.....

plant looks healthy, but stressed small.... i don't know why, unless you have changed it's environment back and forth.... are you going indoors and out with it? if so, stick to one or the other. use a little superthrive, see what happens....

new pix tonite!!!!

New pics of your tree? Your 800 watt tree? ;) I know....I so suck at this. How much superthrive should I use and just add it to my watering agenda? The temps have been 95-100F during the day pretty much it's whole life....could that be why even though it's in the shade? Gets morning and evening sun. I haven't been changing the enviroment on it.....left it outside since X-C warned me about bringing in bugs. There's no real room for it indoors anyway. AGGGGGGGGGGG

superthrive, one drop per gallon, every watering.

with high temps, it is utterly necessary, imo, to water EVERYDAY whether the soil is dry or not. i water morning and evening with my outdoor plants, and they thrive in 100+ degree heat.

we'll get you ironed out. ;)

Ok done two days in a row.....is there a certain temp I should figure on watering if it reaches outside? Today she looks slightly droopy....should I try watering every other day if she starts to droop? Thanks for the help Celeste......I'm such a goob with this.

ur not a goob, u just have it stuck in ur head that u n dirt arent friends.

ur fightin a battle with heat against ya.

my girls go droopy when i water, so, no help from me.:(

if u can grow those sweet nugs u did in water, you can work with Mom Nature too, i'm sure. have faith!

and, i think plants in dirt just need a lil more time to adjust/correct issues.
at least thats my perception.

Like your saying at the end there AV....now i'll be singing that the rest of the day.

Rock I agree that soil takes longer in most ways, both to show problems and to fix them and I think you have to be able to "read" your plants better than I do. that's why I love hydro with all it's little numbers....I never have to look at the plants themselves, lol.

I had just brought the other one home (Rock that bigger one is a russian btw) and transplanted my baby (who had NO TAP ROOT....I'm assuming heat) into some brand new light potting soil....LIKE 20 MINUTES BEFORE because you had done so well with yours when you transplanted them Rock. :wtf:
