I live in California and have been thinking about getting a medical card to help with my insomnia, however i heard that there are some disadvantages to getting a marijuana license, and if you get one it stays on your record which could prevent you from getting certain jobs.
Can anyone verify if any of this is true?

Yes, and in case you arn't aware, medical records are NOT as private as you think they are. Not only does your insurance company, government agencies, and the like have access to them, but in some cases, even your employer.

My suggestion is to use a different name under which you obtain care, and never ever give your SS# and pay in cash at the doc's office when possible. Having them sign a release won't really stop them from sharing the info with others.
