Just trying to start my own garden and having hard time.
Thought I would check what others are doing so I can figure out what I am doing wrong!
Have about 400 watts trying to get sprouts, going 24hrs. 80 degrees well drained pots, and watering when soil is dry.
no sprouts, and second go around so only have a few chances left.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Am studing Wiccan, and find that smoking always me to tune into nature so much easy than hours of medatiating.
Thanks all!

Welcome! I can answer your questions very quickly.
For one, you say sprouts, so I'm guessing you either just plant the seed, or germinate it first, then plant, right? If so, the first thing is, seed do not need light to sprout. They will sprout either in the light, or in the dark.
Second, you say you water when the soil is dry. That's your problem right there. Seeds NEED lots of moisture to sprout, and letting your soil dry up will kill it in no time.
So turn off the light next time, and place the freshly planted seeds in your soil, and keep the soil moist. Do not let the soil dry out, but don't let the soil be mucky either, just moist.
Other than that, good luck!

Germ in paper towels before transplanting. Put those little bitches in some moist paper towels, cover 'em totally, put 'em in some tupperware and throw it on yer cable box. Don't transplant until the taproots 1-2 inches, methinks. Try to make the tupperware pretty light tight. Light's bad for the newborn baby taproot.
TAPROOT DOWN! :-)

Merry met! I start my seeds on a damp paper towel on a plate in a baggie. I usually put it on top of the fridge. I would start my planted seedlings under a fluoro - I prefer the tube type, cool whites. The tube should be 2 inches or less from the sprouts. You'll never burn a seedling with fluoros!
Plant the seedlings in paper drink cups first, let them grow 'til the cup starts looking soggy. Then cut the rim and peel the cup off- transplant into 1 gallon pots. Let them veg some more and transplant into your final pot. I like 2 plants per 19 gallon tub (Wal-mart, $4).
Don't use "Miracle Grow"- it's all wrong for cannabis. Don't fertilize your plants until they are 6 inches or so, or show deficiencies (check out the infirmary). I guess you don't need to be told to grow organically. Your babies will eventually get hungry for magnesium, so buy some epsom salt.
When you top your plants (I do it between 6 to 10 inches), take about a 2-3 inch cutting. Put the cuttings in water (read up on cloning) and put them under 12/12 lighting. They will sex before your seedlings (which should be under 24/7 or 18/6 lighting). This way you have found which ones are males (most folks discard them, but keep the most well branched one if you need seeds) and you have a head start on your next grow with the female clones.
Watch for pests (especially mites). Keep a record of your grow. Get a microscope to check your trichs (Radio Shack- $10). Read and learn all you can. May the Ganja Goddess smile on your efforts. Blessed be.... -Granny:hippy:
ps. I totally agree with your observation about cannabis and meditation!
