how can you tell if your seeds are female?

i have some seeds i got in a quarter of mids i bought and i was thinking of starting to grow i got 8 seeds also my friend told me that in order to get them to grow u put them in a moist paper towel and they should sprout then you place them in dirt, is that true i couldnt find anything about that online thanks in advance and keep high

If the sprout comes out the top or bottom of the seed coat it is one sex. If it comes out of the side it is the other.

You cant tell untill you flower the plant.
