Honestly, I have no idea how the fuck he did it. I'm sure reading this you like "WTF?" That's how exactly I was, until I actually saw the patent.
It's actually real genius. All he did was summarize a factual theory. The essence of having carbon dioxide pressured into another form of waste which reduces emissions. I felt like a retard listening to the presentation because I don't have a science background, but it made enough sense to someone to get a patent.
One day, he'll able to contest other who try to invent something similar and contest it on court. I'm not sure how successful he'll be, but the potential to be rich later on in life is enormous.

my uncle is in the process of patenting something that will be come nation wide requirements for big rigs...
windshelid wipers on the review mirrors.... last i heard he's gotten one pattent and is waiting on the other 2, and in a few years, it willl become ATLEAST state wide MANDATORY to pass inspections (which we all know, if you don't pass you don't drive)
he's on the verge of making millions upon millions if not billions...
=/ too bad i'm th eblack sheep of my family... he already has plans to build my mom a new house in a new place (think 2-3 stories, multiple bedrooms [she's always having people come stay with her when in trouble, she's a good woman at heart but me and her just can't get along, cuz i'm looking for a mother and she's looking for a 'friend' and a 'shit holder, or someone to carry her burdens for her] along with my grandparents (not the ones i live with) and probably most every single close family member in my 'close' family...
seriously, he's about to be one o fthe richest people in the US.... just imagine in a coupl eyears every rig having to go and have installed his patentend technology.... so they can still drive legally....

That's awesome. That's sort of what my friend is gambling on. He hopes the government would mandate lower emissions on vehicles and he stands to gain alot of money. He plans to start a company to get the ball rolling on his intellectual property. Thing is he doesn't even have a college degree, he's a plumber who rolls on alot of beans.
Goes to show you can do anything you put to your mind too, slip =)

my uncle isn't exactly a college graduate either <.< he was a local pro circuit MX-er (moto cross, dirtbike racing/freestyle) don't think he ever made it national circuits, but he has atleast 50 pounds worth th emetal in him from all the broken bones.. and i'm speaking literally.... you can 'rub' a part of his body and feel a screw within like a sqaure inch or two....
you know when those sport people get told they HAVE to quit, by doctors cuz one more crash could kill them?
that's my uncle.... he pushed his body to the limits and he's not even 40 yet..... his next wreck could easily kill him...
so he moved on, and a fwe years later after (i guess) sitting at home all day he proved to the TX DOT rig crashes were much less durring 'clear' weather, and proving they're much worse/frequent durring rain, convinced them it would be safer with his little invention.
he's currently getting the patents... which are 'special' and have been proved to work, it isn't just a mini windsheild wiper ona mirror (for anyone thinking of trying to beat him for the patents <.< i ain't gonna tell how it works cuz obviously i could be screwing him for millions) but lets just say, it's alot more complicated, and is costing him 100's of thousands for the patents... but once he has them, he's the only liscesend offical available to provide them, which unelss he makes deals with out auto part companies... he will be the only one suppplying them, and since it will be required on all rigs within a couple years...
well think bill gates..

Tell him not count his chicks slip....The guy who patened the recessed wippers (remember before they were hidden below the hood?) thought he was gonna be rich too. The auto makers just waited till the patten expired before making them standard.

doesn't apply here, automakers aren't deciding them to be needed/standard... deparment of transportation is, which is a bit diffrent.

I thought there was already such a thing as a co2 recycler--plants!

Remember that patents don't last forever. If your friend really wants to cash in on this idea (instead of wasting money on the patent) he needs to start making them and making a profit, like yesterday!
Trust me, I've seen it a lot in the paintball industry. One company, Smart Parts, owns the patents/rights on most of the newer technologies within the sport, so no other companies make things like them. But, every year or so, Smart Parts loses a patent or two and the competition starts taking thier money/customers.

Two questions on this rearview mirror wiper:
Doesn't that already exist? I thought I had seen that somewhere before.
How is your uncle going to get the DOT to require this as standard equipment? It seems like it takes forever to get new safety equipment to be required --- airbags were around forever before being required, and I still don't think anti-lock brakes and traction control are required.

perhaps... but since when has one single invention ever been the only one? all patenting does is protect your exact design, not the general idea...
i'm sorry i don't have all the logistics and answers, i don't really talk to him much since i live with my dad's side of the family, and this uncle is on my mom's side, as well as in another city...
but he is patenting his idea and has already been told by the DOT his design will become standard on 18 wheelers upon finishing his patent and possibly starting to get them produced... and i also never said it wasn't taking a long time.... especially since he's not already rich i'ts taking even longer to gather the money to patent them (i think there are 3 patents all together, he has one done for sure, was working on the 2nd last tiem i heard) and this whole process started years ago....
btw, it would cost a great deal more to outfit a car/truck/whatever with anti lock brakes, traction control, and airbags that didn't have them to begin with, then a simple mirror wiper... which could also have alooooooot to do with why those saftey features aren't required while this will be.

If you are interested, I'll send it to you via PM. It contains a bit of personal information and I don't want to link his name to a cannabis site.
