College Health Class Bullshit

So I am taking my last health credit in college and today we started the chapter on drugs. I knew this shit would come up and I was just going to try and keep my mouth shut. The instructor started talking about all drugs as being the worst thing anyone could do to their bodies. He even compared it to suicide. Then he started talking about cannabis and spouting out all this outdated and false information from the government funded and biased studies of the 70's. He said that one drag from a joint kills 30,000 lung cells. I almost fell over. I raised my hand and told him that I had been smoking cannabis for years and I was in even better health now than I had been when I was in the Marine Corps and that his information was outdated and disproven many times. He looked absolutely shocked and said I had better stop because I was killing myself and was an idiot. Then he asked the class if anyone else had ever done any drugs. Everyone looked extremely nervous, but nobody raised their hands. I am so sick of closet smokers! If you smoke and are a responsible adult, there is no shame in telling others. Hiding the fact that you engage in a harmless and benificial activity is ridiculous. The more accepted and open personal cannabis use becomes, the more all of use benefit and the closer we get to actual de-criminalization. I am done ranting. Enjoy toking folks.

yeah, i agree with you, i think the populace in general has this misconception that marijuana is so bad for you, but lord knows our parents did it when they were our age so i follow their example! :rasta:

But KUDOS for standing up! Whenever I substitute teach for health classes, they gather 'round and I set 'em straight about pot. Many of them are surprised at the potential health benefits, and about 60% of them thought you could die from an overdose of pot...

people need to realize that alcohol is worse/more dangerous than weed.
and everybody gets drunk (i am also in college) so what's the big deal, huh? what's the double standard?
