Different Method on Cloning

I cant afford to buy all the equipment that most people have for cloning, but someone told me that if i take off a cutting, i can just put the stem part where the roots will grow in water for a few day and roots will grow. does anyone know if this method is possible and how the results turn out?

They will grow in water, but seriously, the rooting powder is like 4.99 at any hardware store. . .

Are you working with hydro??? If so I would go with the rooting in water idea. Maybe sugar water. . .

oo.. didnt know how cheap the stuff was.. but i dont know much about cloning and the water method sounds very easy... i havent heard how to use the rooting powder. im about to do some reading on that but if u dont mind, can u please explain how it goes?

grab some cloning jell or powder! :) the water method is a good 1! just experiment till you get it right! I f you want to get the hang of it be trying with MJ try takin cuttings from another random plant.

I make all my clones with "old fashioned water cloning" method. I do it because it is so easy and hassle-free and have a very high success rate.

Here is the method I use I place the clone in a glass of distilled water, the clone stem is held in place by a piece of aluminum foil with a hole poked in the middle of it for the stem to go through. I just cut the stem at an angle and done worry about taking off any of the extra leaves. I dont use a humidity dome , I dont use any root hormones , or wilt spraiy I just use plain h2o.
I keep the clones in a 1'Lx1'Wx1.5'H veg box with 1 6500k 26watt cfl , and 1 2700k 26 watt cfl for a nice spectrum.

They grow roots in 7-10 days with this method. Mist the clones 1 time a day , and change the water in the cups every other day.

Once the first roots start forming then either place them in a small pot (if using soil) with a high moisture retention (they will need high moisture for 4-5 days after transplanting into soil until they grow enuff roots) Give them a light fert (1/4 stregth) of vegg ferts after 4-5 days in the high moisture soil.

Or place them in your hydro medium, with a low ppm fert solution.

Also I thought I would add that You will see the bigger leaves on the clones yellow and some will die because there being used for food for the plant , it will keep doin this until the clone realises it needs to make roots to live.

I like this method because how easy it is to do , expecially for people who only need a few clones now and then. Wilting dosent occur at all after the first day
(you dont need a humidity dome) and it has a very high success rate out of the few dozen clones ive made this way ive had a 100% success rate cloning with this method.

I dont , but hey you could try that if you wanted to. I just use h2o when I clone that way it does me good so I dont want to "fix something that aint broke" heh.

Not a lot of point adding super thrive the only other thing u might want to think about adding is a small amount of pk 14/15 as clones root quick and a pk rich enviroment! :)
