i found a colony of very small ants in the pot of a plant. i didnt see any signs of dammage but do you think they will cause any dammage? and if it is a problem, what can i do to prevent them. thanks

Nop there good for your plants, they eat an array of pests including green fly! :)

whoa if they are little black ants carpenter ants they are not good there not horrible and a huge problem but theyll f up roots.....i saw a couple in my room repotted one of the plants in it had soooo many ants in it and did root damage

ants (some of them" raise/farm aphids and aphids are bad for mary jane : (

one time i moved a few small plants out in the woods and ants ate all of my plants. including the stem. i bet they got high as hell. lol but i was pissed!

I doubt the ants got high from eating an immature pot plant.

That's news to me! Ants in general aren't desirable. If nothing else, they can act as vectors for diseases. As far as I know, most common species of ant in temperate regions are herbivorous, some (such as fire ants) causing crop damage.

Plant onions in the pot with the weed. When they get so big pop them out eat them and plant another one. The roots are't intrusive, and ants hate them.

Thats a great tip! :)i only speak from experience here. when ever weâ??ve had an out door crop - iv always found ants eating the green fly.. bout uk ants are quite poxy lil things. :)

ants are BAD they milk aphids and green fly for their sweet excretions called honeydew,and the ants end up `farming` them. more ants = more aphids. stand your pot on some bricks in a tray of water,so you have a moat the ants cannot cross.that said ive just smoked a bit of weed that had a few dry aphids in it, got me stoned.
