View Full Version : How to measure slide for bong

I just recieved a nice bong from a friend for my birthday, problem is, there is not female or male slide/head. I want to order the new stem and head online, and see various sizes (9mm,12mm,and 16mm). Just wonder where to measure to figure out what size i need. Its a 1 foot bong, that is very thick. Oh, and it has the rubber piece in the hole where the stem would go, do i take that out if i measure the diameter of the whole or measure it with it in? Sorry for the questions, Any help is much appreciated.

since its not smoked in yet go to a head shop and size it up. Don't buy stems off the internet unless there's one you really want. Just too much risk involved. I can't think of a worse feeling than spending the money for the stem, money for the shipping, AND pick out the exact stem you want only to have it not work when it finally arrives. As far as your question goes though,...I take it that it is not glass on glass then, take some pictures and post them. Just too many variables.

Exactly.......I've seen slides with different diameters not to mention the length.
Have a good one!

simple the measurements are i believe for outside diameter so just get a cm ruler remember each little line is 1mm so in 1cm theres 10 little lines simple enough....most bongs female downstems are 12mm while the male slide is 9mm..but in your position just measure the inside of the rubber grommit side to side or up and down dont matter if its like 13 or 11 then u just need a 12mm downstem and 9mm male bowl.remember rubber will stretch to fit...simple really man hope i helped and good luck post pics if u can
