I love the song "Just Wait" by Blues Traveler- whenever I hear it, my spirit is nourished like it just got a pep talk from a loved one. Everytime I hear the song, I feel more hope. Another good one is Joan Armatrading's "Blessed." The lyrics ground me when I feel that free-floating anxiety which strikes sometimes.
There are many great songs out there which are specifically comforting, whose message uplifts (not religious, that's another genre) and I think it would be great to have a mix tape of those songs to listen to when the day is hard and you feel despair. Any suggestions about other songs like this?

mix tape? as in cassettes? I thought I was the only one. HAHA..
I still make many mixed tapew, mostly a mixture of the CD's I already have...but to feel uplifted...I usually go for The Damned, The Smiths or sometimes even Pink Floyd.

aw c'mon, geo, I meant that figuratively, like a file on an ipod.... whatsitcalled? I know, I'm a fogie, hell I remember albums and I had an 8 track in my first car- woot:D
Anyhow, Pink Floyd is fun to escape to another place, I agree! What songs from the Damned or The Smiths are especially uplifting for you? I like a million songs, but there are some that are like spiritual lullabies, you know? A song that affirms spirit - Does that make sense?
