Pearl Jam or Nirvana.
Pearl Jam easily, Cobain may have a good voice but his songs are just too repetitive, Pearl Jam have way more talented musicians anyway.

Nirvana for me, kurt was an amazing artist. The music was raw and pure. I miss him.

Pearl Jam.
Don't get me wrong, I love Nirvana to death, but the hype around them blew out of proportion and it sorta turned me off. Plus, my dad's a big PJ fan and I tend to listen to the same music as him.
I still love them both.

Nirvana have always been slightly over rated in my opinion, I prefer their acoustic red neck music really. Frank Black/PIxies were a great influence on Niravana, and they were/are way better. I'm still to this day annoyed with myself for not going to see them when they played my student union in 1991 though.
I prefer Pearl Jam personally between the two though. I had to opportunity to see them for free recently, I get occasionaly jobs like this, I got paid at the end for loading the equipment onto the trucks after the gig. But they made us wait outside the arena for the last hour of the gig and we missed all the great songs like I am alive, and the cover of Neil Youngs Rockin in the Free World! We got right up the front in the VIP area for the first half though, and it was an amazing gig.

In general, I don't like Pearl Jam. But they do have a few songs I really like (Black, Yellow Bedletter, I got ID). But I voted for Pearl Jam anyway, I've been listening to them a lot lately.

Both bands are painfully bland, but Nirvana is definatly slightly more interesting.

Apples and oranges. :stoned: I honestly don't know how these two bands even fit into the same genre. They sound nothing alike.

I respect both Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Their styles can't be compared because let's face it, they were only labeled together because of image. Musically they couldn't be further apart.

Pearl Jam, fo' sho.
Waay more talented, more interesting music, and kickass guitar solos. What else could you want?!
loll pearl jams solos are wakk, the only album i respect is Ten and thats only because i used to like it when i was younger and i admit a few songs are decent like Jeremy and Garden but none of there other albums can compare. i mean cmon... wtf was viatology.
im gunna have to vote nirvana. they were so much more raw than pearljam anyday. their riffs though simple, are some of the most catchy ive heard. I mean they deffinatley were overhyped and blown out of perportion i cant deny that. some of their songs are just so fucking good. I bet anyone 13-16 that listens to nirvana will find atleast one song where they would think kurt is 'speaking to them'.
but neither band is anything too special

PJ.
Cobain's death has elevated Nirvana to critical & cultural heights that are not deserved. They made three good records - one an acoustic live record that contained some of the studio recorded songs. It would have been nice to have seen if they could have kept it going together - as it was they were in process of splitting up at the time of Cobain's death. Whereas PJ is still pushing it, still relevant.
