I just built a 3'D x 6'W x 4 1/2'H grow cabinet to be used for vegging. I've got two 400w MH bulbs in cool tubes.
Below are three photos representing the three different ways I could hook the cool tubes together. Which configuration would be best?
A photo of my cabinet after I finished drywalling the outside - not that I'm at all anal about these types of things. LOL.

Air flow direction has to match up. I'm not sure if those have integral booster fans in them but if they do, check the direction and mark it on the thing somewhere.

Hi Stinky! These are 18" glass, 23 1/2" overall, Hydrofarm cool tubes. There's no fan in them. I'd think that people using multipe cool tubes have probably experimented with different configurations to get the most even light distribution - which is my concern here.

yeah i'm not sure how much horizontal space you have but you might want to space your tubes out some to get more even coverage.
or maybe even side by side, parallel. idk just turn them on and see what's best

Bump - come on, there's gotta be some cool tube users out there.

Hey, buddy. IMO, pic 3 would be the optimal setup, or something like Cornelius said (spacing them a little bit apart) but I'd check out xcrispi's thread (I think). He uses two cool tubes. So does u.g.u. so you might wanna ask them how they have theirs set up or maybe you'll be able to see from looking at their pics.
Awesome cab-building, by the way, man. excellent job. You really do built houses like you said, eh? ;) Can't wait to see the rest of the setup.

Thanks, Fog. Yeah, I really do build houses. LOL
By the time I get the 6" vent tubes hooked up to those cool tubes, there's not going to be a lot of wiggle room to seperate the lights.

Thanks Crispi, I appreciate the input.
...and thanks for the comp on the cabinet. Yeah, there's a lot of attention to detail; too much attention to detail. LOL I'm such a fucking perfectionist I drive myself crazy half the time. But, when I'm done, I should have something that is trouble free and I can concentrate on growing good plants and not infrastructure problems.
Tomorrow I'm going to do the electrical. That'll be fun, I enjoy electrical work.

I installed the doors on the cabinet today.
Hmmm - I think I'll put in redundant timers, just for the heck of it.
