the Image Reaper is still growing out his 'Daddy's Girl' hybrid - he sent me a pic he took this morning - unexpected trait appearing last few days - it's Day 10 since going to 12/12, and the leaves have been 'frosting' up the last 3-4 days - his White Widows, same age, and grown with the DGs, have zero frost appearing :wtf: - we're hoping we got something 'special' here, but, who knows? - we ain't smoked it yet - and, the smoke is all that matters

 well, I fucked up :wtf: - stoned, and misunderstood my messages :wtf: ... the plant pictured was on Day 18 of flowering, so sorry for my mistake - it was switched to 12/12 on May 9th, (not 9 days ago, as I interpereted) it was vegged for 6 weeks from seed, and placed into 12/12 flower 18 (eighteen) days ago - he said he noticed the frosting on the 3 or 4 sets of branches BELOW the top about 4-5 days ago, and the top frost appeared a couple days ago :wtf:

thanks for being understanding - mistakes happen when messages are 'relayed' - Reaper can 'log-in', but can't post (banished ? deported ? :D), so he goes thru me sometimes, and I'm frequently 'maximum-medicated'

kinda cool - my Daddy's Girls are still 'frosting' up their leaves, and the Dutch Passion White Widows right next to them, are just beginning to sparkle a little bit - I haven't had a lot of 'frosting' on prior strains, so I'm hoping this indicates serious potency, and not just appearances (bling) - a white plant with no killer buzz, is not what I'm looking for - I have a bunch of Willie Nelson clones waiting to get into my booth, but I'm really more excited about working some more on this strain of mine - if it turns out 'special' :hippy:, I'm going to send some seeds to the original breeders of the parents, my way of saying 'thanks, dude'

if this lil girl doesn't turn out to be 'good to Daddy', I'm gonna be sooooo disappointed  ... here she is, in Day 46 of flowering, will probably harvest her in a few days ... the two Dutch Passion White Widows growing right next to her, hung their heads in shame :D ...

harvested my 'Daddy's Girl' experiment ... Day 49 of flowering, seven weeks on the nose ... I tried to extend her a bit for more yield, but I was already getting amber trichomes, so I took her out of the cabinet (she frosted her leaves faster, and finished faster, than her parents) ... I won't actually cut her down for awhile, I just took them out to sit in a dark room for a couple days ... this will give her time to use up her stored moisture, and there is a new theory floating around, that the last couple days in darkness, spurs resin production ... we'll give it a shot, and see if I can detect a difference ... still flowering my Willie Nelsons, will be awhile yet for them (straight sativas) ... :smokin:

lol I JUST sent you an email about her not five minutes ago.

yup, looks like easy trimming ... the cola isn't all that big, the whole plant is only 32" from soil, to tip ... her sister went 35" ... both have very swollen individual female buds, more so than I'm used to ... they look like they are forming seeds, but actually, it is just the swollen flower (not used to seeing that, the buds look 'lumpy', LOL :D) ...
cola is very dense (and way sticky) :weedpoke: ... damn, they smell good, pure lemon-scent ... very little odor, unless touched, then, just fresh lemons :) ... I tried to flower her longer for more yield, but she is already showing about 20% amber trichomes at Day 49 of flower ... that's just a bit faster than her Cinderella99/Northern Lights momma ... one difference, the NL99 momma showed preflowers from the git-go, while this 'Daddy's Girl' never did show preflowers ... I just vegged six weeks from seed, and then the 7 weeks of flowering ... 13 weeks from seed, in other words ... single 400-watt sodium used for vegging and flowering ... and temps were way too hot ... I have never had proper ventilation (my bad, it's a holdover from the 'old days', when we believed hot temps stimulated resin production - nowadays, I think that theory has been pretty well discounted), canopy temps ranged from 85-95 whenever lamp was on, except for the rare days when I've had the air conditioning on ... anyway, will post up when cured, and the 'taste test' begins ... :smokin:

OK, I dried the 'Daddy's Girls' for about 4 days, and now have them curing in Mason jars ... not nearly finished curing, but done enough to test ... while growing, she had a very mild lemon-scent, just delicious aroma, very nice ... after this bit of curing, the aroma has changed to a 'sour-grapefruit', maybe even 'pineapple' in there ... dry-toking is just delicious ... it's funny for me to make comments like this, because I have always been more concerned with effect, rather than taste ... she weighed out at 18 grams of dried 'bud only' ... I am happy with that small yield, because she grew very far away from the lamp (about 36") :wtf: ... she was an after-thought, placed between my TALL Willie Nelsons, and circumstances prevented getting closer ... I'm very confident she will yield very well, when I can dedicate the cabinet to her ... now, the important part ... I placed a small piece of bud in my bong, one match, one toke (still a couple tokes left in the bowl, didn't use it up) ... really UP, clear, colorful, no anxiety, just feelin' good, no lethargy, like a good sativa ... surprisingly, it also seems to be soothing my arthritis, which usually requires an indica ... that was about an hour ago, and I am real anxious to finish my Willies, so I can get more 'Daddy's Girl' in my cabinet ... 'nuff said

that's a nice looking bud you have right there. reaper do you ever get wilting on your plants with your higher temps? Do you think it reduces your yield at all as well?

I have had a high-temp situation for quite some time (years ?? :D) ... I have never visibly seen any negative effects, but I'm often told, the plants would do better around the suggested 75 degrees fahrenheit ... if it was in my backyard right now, it would be a steady 105 ! ... they tell me Thailand, VietNam, Hawaii, Afghanistan, etc.. all have pretty warm climates ... damned Mother Nature just don't know nuthin' 'bout no growin' :D ... after my present plants finish, I am going to build a new ceiling for my cabinet, and re-do my ventilation setup, should get me down where I belong ... problem is, I am presently venting back into my adjoining room ... the new setup will vent it directly outside, for my neighbors to enjoy :S3:... but, honestly, I'm not doing it for the plants, I'm doing it for ME, tired of heating my house with a 400-watt sodium :smokin:

Yes it's certainly not 75 degrees in the places you mentioned where they do alot of growing. I believe I read or (or heard) that if you keep the roots damp they can do pretty well in hotter enviroments. Do you use mylar?

the image reaper
07-08-2007, 09:23 PM
yup, Mylar, but I'm looking at other options, gonna do a reflectivity test with my light meter ... the Mylar is just such a pain in the ass to keep clean ... I like foliar-feeding occasionally, and Mylar just shows every drop of overspray ... I will gladly trade a bit of reflectivity ,to get something less tedious to maintain ... I'm gonna check out a white, 'pebbled' fiberglass sheet, (used for shower stalls, etc.), sold at Home Depot, and see how well it reflects ... :smokin:

Well pop my buttons! :D X-C and I were just discussing that.....please do let us know about the temps. I'm thinking about changing my mylar too so I'll be very interested to see what you guys end up with. My big issue with it these days is the heat.....
