Twisting Plant ! HELP !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey . I´m finding my first grow problem that I cannot find the solution by reading.
My Blueberry is twisting, just a bit, but twisting.
She was place in soil 10 days ago on May 18th as another WhiteWidow I have. But this one is twisting.
I thought distance to lamps, I have 2 HPS x 250w and the plants are a little more than one feet from them. I think this is safe.
The temp does not raise 28 degrees as you can also see in the picture.
Now I´m trying shoting an humidifier in front of them to raise up the humidity in the leaves. Í do not know how will it result.
Soil sometimes seems dry. But is only dry on top. And I water once or twice a day but not too much.
Well ..the thing is that I´m going to have total of 5 babies and I do not want to mess with all of them. Maybe only one is deform. Or maybe is some other thing.
Please help me I´m worried.
ps: for details of my growing space and specs please visit http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-growing/106360-need-2nd-opinion-2x250hps-x-space-anyone.html#post1298667
Thanks !

That soil looks terrible... You need some better soil. Thats probably your problem. I would keep the light about 2 feet sbove them until they get bigger. Buy some good potting soil.

[And I water once or twice a day but not too much]
I agree with EarthyDank, get some Perlite/vermiculite in there, but I also believe your watering schedual is some of your problem.
I wet my soilless medium as I'm using it to repot or uppot. Then after I transplant, I only water in the saucer (for a time or 2)...underneath the pot, to drive the roots to the bottom of the pot seeking water...who could care if the top of your pot is wet or not, you dont want roots at the top.
Then water/fed to the weight of your pot; know the weight dry, then after a good watering/fed, lift her again, and know the difference. IMHO, a touch underwatered is better than over watering.

Twisted leaves is a common trait in b.b.
Some outgrow it , some dont . Find some better soil for when you transplant though .

even the cheapest potting soil would be better than what you're growing in - just do NOT get any soil that indicates it has pre-mixed fertilizers, they will throw off your feedings later on :smokin:

Hi !
Thanks you ALL very much for everything.
It´s been certainly good advice.
PS: The soil is bought in home depot. But fkn crappy.
I already bought a different variety to replant, and some perlite too.
I will replant tomorrow.
I want to help speed up eventhough they are small and I have no need to replant yet. I will.
About the lights I will move up a little.
But 2 feet since too much and I´ve read a lot about a few inches reducing a lot the power delivered. So.. I will raise 1/2 feet.
I made a nice picture in return of the little family. I know it´s a little skinny but we are improving.
The other picture is the new soil I bought and it´s supoused to be a good mix with almost 1/4th of perlite. I made a nice little pile out of it.
Well . anyother advice is greatly apreciated and you can check back my first post with more details of my grow room and so.
Thanks again. Nanu nanu

You should do option E. Just seems the best to me because it provides light to the bottom and the top.

looks like a direct soil issue, i found that mine needed a little less red in the lighting, so i changed to a blueish bulb. also you may wnat to change to a deeper container for the soil. they can only get as big as the container that they are in. and those look like shallow trays to me!

at closer inspection of the white widow i also see the leaf's are turn because of the amount of humity and tensity of the light, back off on the light with white widows them girls are tricky and need alot of THC!!! he he he!

They are 15 days old. the big ones.
And 7 days old the small ones.
Twisting BB is 15 days.
But I got a 7 days BB already showing a little sign of twistings.
My WWs are not twisting. My The Church is not twisting.
Why is only BB twisting. ?
And what is hydro M8 ?
thanks

Hydro is using water instead of soil. I'm not a hydro gal so I'll let the next poster describe it better if they wish.
I'm growing bb's right now and they are twisting a little but it's in the middle, nowhere as severe as yours. I think the BB's are incredibly finicky on taking nutes....didn't I read that on someone's log? Perhaps once all the premixed nutes are gone they will relax.
Keep it up!
They do look better!

Yea, apparently BB has the tendency to do that when smaller (the twisting). It is a natural characteristic of the strain, so you shouldn't worry too much. Glad you got your soil straightened out. Things should be looking up!
Hi, Bree. luckychiken, hydro is a method to grow without soil. It is different... I like it. :) Many different ways of doing hydro (i.e. NFT, DWC, Ebb & Flow, Drip) More precise, less earthy...higher yields, faster growing, not as organic. That's the abbreviated answer. :p

Hey Fog and Bree. !!!
Thank you both on your answers.
Attached a few pictures of my 2 BBs.
For anyone else who would like to comment also here attached.
I would like not to worrie. But the tip of my Big BB is now pointing down.
This way the new develped leaves tend to have less posibility of getting the light. So I do not know what will be the outcome of not worriying.
But I will keep everyone posted. The other pic is a smaller BB but already showing some twisting.
Thanks

Okay, that looks bad. You have nuted them or the ph is way off...maybe both. Here is a pic of one of my bb's...it is two weeks old and is under 80w of FT's.[attachment=o140000]
Flush with ph'd water quick! If you don't know the ph of your water and are concerned it isn't neutral, go to the super market and get R/O water or distilled. Then water your plants until the water running out of the bottoms is clear.

Sorry, but yea, those things look bad, man. :( They look like you put nutes (any nutes is too much at that stage) and then burned them with the MHs...
Hope they bounce back soon. *fingers crossed* You might wanna get your soil and lights straightened out and plant a couple more seeds. With the time it might take the ones you have now to catch up (being stunted most likely), the new ones might be better and taller before the older ones. Don't mean to disrespect your plants, but they look pretty banged up. The 2nd one looks like someone or something stepped on it. :(
Good luck, man. Keep us posted.

Hey people. Thank you for being answering all this long,.
And sorry about my late reply.
All my 5 plants are growing very good . 2 BB 2 WW and 1 The Church
Well.... I have not added any nutes to the soil.
I only water with regular water. But that might be the problem.
Maybe there were some nutes in the soil but they are supoused to be away by now.
Actually I do not want to grow more new Blueberrys. This are growing as fast as any other. And the shape is like you can see in the pictures. It is like my science project . I do not want to kill them. Let´s all see what happends.
About flushing. I just need an OK on this.
I shall go and buy a bunch of destiled water and flush them away right ?
After this they are supoused to straighten ?
Well... I want to start a new forum for all the plants. Like a grow log.
Do you recommend me to do that ? Or just keep on posting in this one ?
Thanks anyway for everything.
PS: My flag in argentinean. Argentina Maradona !!!!! :D
