Recording analogue input to mp3

and I took the analogue output and connected it to the mic input, in theory could I record this music into mp3 format?

hmmm, the soundcard might have a problem with that if its music thats streaming fromthe net, because you kinda looping it back...not really sure on that one.

maybe theres a software/freeware prog/winamp plug-in that can grab streaming audio on the fly for conversion to mp3, would be a more elegant soloution.

dont really know to be honest tho.
