i took a film class this semester because i love watching movies, and one of our assigned movies was Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. and i could see how some peeps might find it boring but honestly i thought it was artistic genius and a masterpiece.
i synched the trippy last 20 minutes of the movie to Pink Floyd's "Echoes" and i found the experience to take on almost spiritual proportions. like, i was seriously moved by the incredible beauty of it all and i was so chilled and at peace and, i dunno, i felt like that kid Ricky from the movie American Beauty.
anybody else ever done this with 2001:ASO? or had a similar experience with a different movie?

and watched it baked?
I think you hit the nail on the head. Anything is possible in that state. I've never tried 2001, but Dark Side of the Rainbow is fan-freakin'-tastic

2001 is my alltime dude. It's my first stone out experience of anything. Kubrick and Arthur C are my heroes. I find the blue danube and that annoying now, so it would be good to watch it to something else. I still love the spooky moon music though...
Ever seen space night? This german show with all sorts of music played to real space footage. It's proper shanti man.
Also that show The Trip from ages on ch4.

i haven't done that with 2001:aso
buuuuuut my friend missy came over with a dvd she rented from our library on campus- maya deren: experimental films 1943-1955 - these black and white art films. and so we got completely baked, and decided to watch that on mute with the cd "bring me the workhorse" by my brightest diamond playing over it..and it was trippy as hell...everything seemed to match it, tempo of the music to what was going on, words would match actions, feelings of music would match feelings of the movie, etc etc. and the cd isn't that long, so we would just start it over in the middle of the movie, and randomly throughout because for some reason we just did, and stuff still seemed to match up!!!
it was so trippy and completely awesome and i remember watched it and just being in this amazing daze and yeah...it was a great experience.
oh and by the way, i love pink floyd :)
