hey ya'll, long time no talk..
I am growing a 6 foot grapefruit plant and it has been coming along nicely since it has been back in my care. my bro forgot to water a couple times and pretty much neglected it so it set it back a bit in flowering on time.
anyway it has been budding nicely with a recent growth spurt. The thing is that the hairs are at least 95% white still amd growing more daily with swollen calyxes but the trichs are about 95% cloudy and maybe an amber one here and there and maybe a clear one here and there... any help with harvesting advice?

Depends on what kind of high you want and what kind of strain it is.
Amber = more not thc = more body stone.
Cloudy= Ripe Thc, Head stone
Clear = speedy un ripe thc, short high.
Remember, the cannabinoids sort of fight for who has the most effect. They cancel each other out a bit, I've found.
Try looking in the faq section for a chart that has trics on it.

ok well I found the charts and it shows how to tell when it's time to harvest by flower or "hair" color and by the trichomes. What if you have a plant that is ready according to the trichomes (cloudy with a few amber) but the flowers are still white, new and growing? This is my predicament

I'm pretty sure the hairs don't really matter, it's all about the trics.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but don't a lot of white strains keep white hairs? Still, if the flowers are still fattening up, maybe you could sacrifice a little head stone for some body stone and get a bigger yeild?

well that is what I am debating at the moment. Is grapefruit considered A "white strain" or known for keeping white hairs even at harvest time? The calyxes are sure swelling and I am sure adding weight and more trichs. I just know there is a time in all of this where it peaks potency and weight and has a small harvesting window. I am just trying to figure out when that is exactly

...I think we have a UFO here..Unidentified Flowering Object
..I would go with the trichs..strange about the hairs...my white widow/rhino hairs turned brown WAY ahead of the trichs...

its all about the hairs your problem may be it is a dominant sativa longer growin time than most plants and why not let your flowers get bigger?

It's not all about the hairs. There's a point that you've waited too long to harvest, and that could be worse than harvesting a little too soon. Get a cheap microscope and look at the trichs; harvest depending on what kind of high you want according to the ^^^^ posts.
