Ive been reading my "bible" about lighting and cannot believe how much watage they recommend. I have a room approx. 7X9 with seven foot ceiling. I have four nice size plants growing under two 400 watt HPS lights. The book I have says that is not even half of what I should have. I'm afraid my little buddies will fry!! I already had the problem of leaf turning. Was told that means I'm too close. Help!!

I my self have a 1000 light and have just turned to the flowering cycle. My light is a air cooled tube light and able to get it within 4" before dryes leaf out. Becouse of this was able to keep light closer to the plant so would not streach out but remain shorter and bushier. When I first started lost two plants but that was becouse the ph and ppm to high. Started monitoring both a few times a day and since then going a lot better.
Her a pic just before going to flower.

Thanks for the info. Have decided maybe one more light for the room. My plants have picked up in their third week of flower and I appear to have good recovery.

Very good choice in the lighting system. I'm going to get me a 1000 watt MH/HPS Conversion in the near future.
