dude, before the lighter was invented alot of people smoked out of sherloc wood pipes with tobacco or weed, and they used matches becuase the chems in matches can give you a extremley slight buzz. i smoke with matches sometimes but it takes away the taste of the weed, plus its hard. try to get a lighter or just roll a j, and no it wont fuck yer brain up

Steel and Flint?..bah, that's easy...you should try rubbing two sticks together each time the J goes cold, man...sheesh!
We have this rule that the one who let's the J go cold, has to rub the fecker back to life....
..and 'cos I'm usually the one who's yakking on all the time....

Yeah, and Clipper lighters aren't the same as they used to be, either!
Like, in the old days, a man could buy a Clipper, and still have the same one after 246yrs of use!
These days..pah! You fill it up once, then the flint goes, or the gas regulator fails...cuh!
They just don't make things like they used to

And when was the last time that you saw a seal balance a ball on it's nose, in it's natural habitat?

Lighters were out before matches? I didn't know that, i guess it is true that you learn somethin new everyday :D
In 1680, an Irishman named Robert Boyle discovered that if you rubbed phosphorus and sulphur together, they would instantly burst into flames. He has discovered the principle that was the precurser of the modern match
umm im sorry but lighters werent out b4 1680 so i dont think lighters came first

Ah, but just because he invented the 'idea' doesn't mean he invented the match.:D

accually one time use is still an invention, but it appears that you loose this round my foe...bwahahaha, plus, matches are cheaper and easy one time use deals that wer a hundred times more popular for years befoe the lighter became big to take its place
In 1832, small phosphorus matches were manufactured in Germany
thats when matches were produced by the thousands and i still dont think lighters came before 1832

I just went on the national lighter museum website, and they say that lighters have existed in various forms since the 16th century. Obviously, they won't look like Bic lighters or Zippos....

That doesn't mean the match existed per se. Gunpowder was around since the 900s in China, but the first cannon apeared hundreds of years later, not to mention rifles and guns...

can ignite the bowl with the sun and a magnifying glass. It works and absolutely no fuel, sulfur or anything else. tastey.
