hey everyone...I've always thought about this just a tad...people stress not breaking in on your plants with any light interruption whatsoever...I do for under 3 minutes a day of light interruption, usually for some reason I need to get into my closet or I would just like to make sure they're doing okay..This is no more light than the moon shines...that being said

outdoor plants have any source of natural light from the sky/moon/stars why could a small interruption of the darkness of an indoor plant make THAT much difference? anyone enlighten me?

3 mins of moonlight is probably not a problem. Some plants are more susceptible to hermie traits than others, why take the risk? One really shouldnt compare to plants in nature, they can turn out all sorts of crap. The plants main ambition in real life is not to remain an unpollinated female as is our goal with them.

Mark I asked the exact same question when I started growing. Here is my thread on it and why I try very hard to be religious about not breaking the light cycle.

Light control is important. Light leaks stress the hell out of plants..

Light leaks are very bad, Greg Green in The Definitive guide describes the activities during the dark period as very slow, and when there is any light whatsoever during this period it will restart all the dark processes over again. He also noted that outdoors, the moon and stars does not work in the same way as light leaks in an indoor setup. Hope that helps. Do your best to keep those to a 0%. Good luck

Pretty much every week I unfortunatly have to shed a bit of light into My cab in the morrning.

You see I keep the cab open for temp situations,,

My light goes off when I leave for work in the morrning Weekedays

Weekends I sleep in,.,,, Ohhhhhhhhh

SO for two days I carefully slip the doors shut after the light has gone off, I'd say its pretty minimal Like I don't have the doors fully open they are open justa crack and somtimes I drap a sheet over the whole box. But some light still gets in there untill I fully close the cab dorrs...

I'm not sure if this has caused any problems yet but Im sure it affects the end result in some way...

As well I noticed when I grew a plant on my balcony, I couldn't get it to finsh flowering, I figured this was sure to the heavy light polution I have living ina major city.. THis year I solved this problem by Growing Lowryder on my balcony...

The Light cycle is not an issue anymore... Although lowryder aint the top notch smoke It saves me a lot of hassles for the Balcony.... covering plants Pulling them inside etc... Ill let you all know whow it works out I just put those in soil last week..

they just need uninterupted darkness to flower and if you allow much light in then you will mess up flowering suggest you get a green light and use it if you need to go in there during the dark period.
