Does your job suck? Do you feel like an underpaid slave at your current place of employment? Tell us about it!

My job: I work for a call center for a major US company (will not mention for security) and I feel like a god damn robot...and a slave...but the pay is good. But it is one of the most aggravating jobs ever because they want the calls to be perfect. But its so damn repetitive and you really get to see the stupidity of America while doing this job.

Humans were not meant to be treated in this fashion! Forgive me if I fancy human freedom and expression.

there are some details of my job i dont like, but overall its good for me. im kind of bored that i've been doing the same thing since july, but its been a steady paycheck for me. the hours were good while i was in school, but i need more now, and they just cant provide it to me.

My hours are pretty good. I could never do the job full time because I would go insane.

I work in HR.

It doesn't suck at all, it's definitely interesting, and you learn how people are really like!

Haha, yes. Mine is horrible. I have a temporary job at a grocery store, to help get me through college. It's the worst job I've ever had in my life. I had better jobs in high school! The only good thing about it is that the people there are pretty cool (co-workers). Other than that, it sucks so much; I cannot stress this enough. I would quit, but jobs are scarce here at the moment, and I also hate hunting for jobs, and doing interviews.

But like the original poster said, I too feel like a slave working there. The pay SUCKS ($7.40/hr, and I started at $7.25), and is not enough money for the job, because the job sucks so much. If they paid $10.00/hr or more, I'd not mind the job as much (yes, in this job, there is no way you can't be 100% money-oriented). Customers just suck, horribly. DO NOT--I REPEAT--DO NOT WORK AT A GROCERY STORE! (though it's a stoner haven. 80% of the people who work at my store smoke.)

I'm a boxboy at a liquor store. Most of the time I'm in the cooler (basically a huge fridge) behind the drinks u pull out. The drinks disapear real fast and I have to stay on my feet most of the time. Considering that I'm a high school student, its not so bad, but I have to work from 6:00 PM to 12:00. It's not even legal.

I work for a vending machine company in the service department. The machines get abused alot by people trying to get free shit out, which pretty much fucks up the machines a lot.

the work I do is really boring, and the pay is really low, but the other people in my office are really nice and they let me take off when ever I want. They cant give me very many hours though, so even though it was perfect during school I'm going to have to get a second job for summer.

My job's great. It's not do good in the wet coz i dont like slipping off the side of boats and into the river, but otherwise it's perfect. It's my hobby, so i enjoy it, i get paid silly amounts of money for doing hardly anything, i'm allowed to smoke all day while i work, i sit on a computer playing games or on here and people do the work for me. The only times im needed is if they're having trouble or if it's something big like an engine change over or getting one of the boats out of the water.

Lifes good - i'm content. I'm only missing one thing.

I go through phases of loving and loathing my job.
I run the show here and see my boss about a half hour a week. If that.
The down side is that I work alone and it gets rather lonely.
The up side is that my lab is pretty automated and by keeping the equipment in good repair, I get plenty of time to just putter around.

When I have more guts, I'll quit and go do what I want to do next, which is travelling around and fixing equipment in OTHER peoples' labs, for twice the money. But when you're sitting on year 3 of a 30 year mortgage, that job security makes switching employers pretty hard to justify, lol!

I work as an RN taking care of homeless folks. I used to work on a medical/surgical/cardiac monitoring floor now that was HELL. We were always short staffed ,very busy and I have ADHD so in short this job was a bad fit. No job is perfect as we also work short but the acuity isn't anywhere as horrible at a regular hospital and we never get mandated to work the next shift if someone calls out sick, etc. I took a minor cut in pay but it has been worth it. Besides homeless folks are my kinda people!

i hate mine. it is basically a microcosm of society. hard efficient work gets you nothing if you dont totally play by the rules. meaning this. if i come in two minutes late, while im there work harder and get more done than everyone else, stay an hour and a half late after working all day because we are shorthanded, i get written up for being two minutes late and punished. meanwhile the people that got there on time and didnt do shit, in fact made a concerted effort to avoid working while there, they are fine, they didnt come in two minutes late. fuck that.

Last summer I had the best job ever, I worked at a really fancy country club as a life gaurd, no one there swan ever, once in awhile we would have someone who was sunbathing or a lap swimmer but for the most part it was barren. I would spend all day on a law chair set up in a shack with a george forman grill a tv with a ps2, all I would do was smoke blunts, eat, and watch movies. The manager at the place was cool as shit and never really checked up on the lifegaurds. It was also great because I worked with some pretty cool people. They were older so they could buy me alchol. And the best part was all of my friends could come to my job and have a sickly nice pool to chill and swim in. AND FREE FOOD AT THE SNACK SHACK. This place was redicoulsly nice and the food was amazingg..... I would be working there this summer but I would need to re-certify my lifegaurding certificate, and it's not worth loosing the money to get it.
This summer I'm gonna make a lot more money being a nanny, I'm excited, kids are pretty fun.

Take it easy suhlio. Maybe if you didn't walk around all day with a nasty scowl on your face, people would be more likely to forgive you...

Haha and suhl that was one time you stayed late like that, and another time you left an hour and a half early while the rest of us did our jobs...hmmm...

Thankfully suhl is there to share my pain, but I also hate my job. I've accepted it though, so whenever I go in it's like I'm emotionally numb, and I can go about my business and get in and get out. ~

I work about 32 hours at a coffee shop so its ok. I love the new people I meet and all the work I get done but I hate the fact that people think there superior because there the customer.

I work PT for one of the local music papers here in town delivery hundreds of copies 7 days a week, and yes, I hate it! :p The pay is so freakin low. I get paid .05 cents, yes, a nickel, for every delivery. I have 138 to do 7 days a week. I literally get paid a handful of nickels. :p Oh god that's bad.

But, it's okay. May. 30th I'm done there and I can concentrate on school full time.
