Hi, all. I am new to the boards... and a huge fan of underground disco, house, and other such beats. Most people hear "disco" and think Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band or something, but there is a lot of deep, dark, dirty stuff out there for those willing to explore... and it is perfect head music! Anyone on a similar tilt? I am always up for indoctrinating others into this sorta music... drop me a note and maybe we can share some tracks or mixes. :pimp:

What would be some good, dark disco? Care to enlighten the ignorant? :)

Try this (http://archive.cbs.nu/modules/PDdownloads/visit.php?cid=5&lid=1046) for starters. Hardcore disco mix with lots of flange on top.
That site's got finicky bandwidth, so lemme know if it doesn't work.

Just rename it and add .mp3 at the end.

Thanks, and wow, in only the first minute, this has shattered my perception of disco, I didn't know disco could have this much depth.

Cheers, glad you're diggin' it... there's lots of freaky stuff out there, for sure... light-years away from Saturday Night Fever. :D

Do you have any disco that has like a sexed-up, dirty sound, but it's like this mix in terms of originality, but more punctuated?

Ask and ye shall receive! Try this (http://www.lucasr.net/media/derhaack/Der%20Haack%20&%20LoudE%20-%20Das%20Mix%202004.mp3), from the same DJ (Loud-E, a personal fave, out of NL) in collaboration with another good DJ, Der Haack. Some excellent house and disco, in parts sleazy and psychedelic....

Glad you liked it, thc! I make my own mixes sometimes but nowhere near that caliber. Those two are pretty top-notch, imo. I'll post more links soon if you're interested.
BTW, if anyone reading this is a mod and it's not too much trouble, please remove the links on my previous messages here... my noob ass didn't realize the edit option was so short-lived. I just dunno the bandwidth situation on those sites and would be more comfortable linking things I uploaded somewhere myself. Thanks!

Yep, I tend to gag when I hear a lot of mainstream disco... although I have a soft spot for some of the popular stuff, too. ;)
Here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/j578sz) is another mix, "A Slow Blow" from Mark Seven. He's better known as a techno producer but he has excellent taste in old school disco, house, etc., as his DJ mixes attest. As the title suggests, this one is downtempo and laid back (i.e., perfect for a smoke!) Hope you enjoy!
