If those fascist motherfuckers come up with one more method of how to greater watch the people and keep them under their thumb of totalitarianism-disguised-as-democracy, I swear I'll have to find another planet.

It would be easy to prove. They would have dates for each activation, and I'm sure your ISP could help you prove your case. If it went to court and it was discovered they optained their information without a warrent, I can't imagine it progressing in most U.S. courts.
I'm not sure how phone taps work, but I imagine the legalities would be very similar.
I still think it's fucked up and they need to stay out of our lives. But I don't think it is as dangerous as everyone is afraid of.

U.S. population 300 million
lets monitor just 10% so that makes 30 million
In order to do a proper job, somewhat, there would have to be one agent/5 people........that equals 2 million agents in order to do the job.
Total added cost to the budget at a meager $30,000/ agent?
$60,000,000,000! That figure doesn't even include materials needed, benifit plans, social security benifits paid, etc.........
Unless your receiving phone calls/or having internet chat from Pakistan, Iran, or others don't worry about it......
Have a good one!

You shouldn't start being frightened when the government has the ability to overlook internet activity, but rather when they have the governmental power to do so(and interest for that matter).
Between this, the PATRIOT Act, Military Commisions Act(and the fact that they even excercized the measures thereof before it was even passed[eg Jose Padilla]), NSA wiretappings... I've said it before and I'll say it again, welcome to the land of the free, people.
Showing attention to the detrimental disasters this administration has caused to our civil liberties is not a Democrat-Republican issue, people. It is not a party-line issue, but rather an issue of civil liberties. This administration disapoints me; and that is not a partisan point of view.

I actually find this funny as hell. In this forum people post their faces, the city that they live in, their grow or pics showing their stash or a pic of themselves toking up; and then a thread like this appears and people act like their concerned about being busted.

one more way to get fucked in the ass.. i dont know about everyone elses, but mines getting pretty raw.. land of the free, a government to employ the peoples word.. let me correct myself, all the things that our great country was founded on, has been slowly taken over, by big corperations, and a government that only worries about the pentions in their pockets...

Being a moderator on this site means that I cruise through ALL the forums......not just a select few. I've seen quite a few things because of that. I wouldn't be so afraid of the big bad FBI that has things like weapons sales, large scale drug sales, etc. I'D worry about maybe a friend or acquaintance that knows about posts on this site.
So once again, as I have done on this site MANY times in the past:
I actually find this funny as hell. In this forum people post their faces, the city that they live in, their grow or pics showing their stash or a pic of themselves toking up; and then a thread like this appears and people act like their concerned about being busted.
Can't even count how many times I've posted similar concerns. I've NEVER posted my face or other "vital information" on this site for a reason....also, my closest friends are unaware that I'm even a member. Somebody gets pissed off.....I don't want this to be a focal point of a major burn.

Fuck the FBI. Bunch of bitches. If they have nothing better to do than snoop on innocent Internet users all in the name of "security", they should all be lined up and shot..............................WITH A PAINTBALL GUN! OOOHHHH!!!!!

Warrants? These are the days of data mining. The use of massive programs that gather huge amounts of information and syphon through it for questionable material. Congress has already found this to be illegal, but the program has persisted. Look into the FBI's Carnivore program, or its successors that went to the NSA. What happened to checks and balances? When did the founders intend a Unitary Executive?

WHAT Company/companies are going to be supplying this hardware/software ???????????? PLEASE tell me. I can only pray they are a publicy traded company.
This will be as easy as owning BA (Boeing), and ATK since we invaded Iraq.
Seriously, whoever wrote that article also wears foil on their head. Think about it, there is literally hundreds of millions of just emails sent daily, to "screen, evesdrop" on even 10% of them would be a phenomenal task.
Yes, they "screen" for keywords and key phrases, and they need to. Should you be dealing Uranium via the Internet, I seriously hope you make the center of someones radar screen and they pay you a visit. Otherwise, you are just too damn boring to be watched by ANYONE......LOL Stop flattering yourselves.
OH NO......I said Uranium, I bet I am being "watched" now..........LMFAO:rasta:

Tin foil all you want. While your probably right that they (hopefully) don't have either the technology or the warewithall at this point, these programs need to be stopped before they evolve further. The very idea of large scale data mining and phone tapping runs counter to this countries single most important document, the Constitution. Better to stop it now before we come to regret it later. Impossible? Ask someone who lived in Nazi Germany or the Soviet bloc, you may get an earfull.

I can imagine some hacker sitting at his computer and he realises the F.B.I are looking through his P.C so he sends a nice juicy virus to crash their servers...the last thing you see on the f.b.i computers before the computers crash is a picture of two cops outside a house along with a big caption "YoU needz a warrant LOL!"

this is just one step further to giving the government more and more control. Of course you'r too boring to be followed, I know that. But they are slowling adding these laws to gain more and more control
