What do you think about when you lay in bed for sleep? the day you had or maybe some fantasy world you would like to live in. I think about inventions and/or problems in the world and solutions I would come up with if i had the time/money/energy to do so. That may be lame but I could never get to sleep if all i did was think about shit going on in my life.

varies.... i may think of events that happened durring the day, try to influence my dreams by imaging some fantasy world.... may try to think up inventions or problem solving... or i may just replay games in my head... such as thinking of new strategies for BF2 or the like....

definitely not sheep, that's for sure...

I think way too much when i'm trying to sleep, usually... sometimes it takes me a few hours of just lying there before my brain winds down enough to let me pass out, even if i'm tired.

i do what i call "downloading my day", and replay the entire day and then think on my schedule for tomorrow...i have a little talk with God and hope he hears me...i hope that my friend gets better and her surgery is easy and recovery quick..i think about my special one, say a little prayer and hope he is well and happy and able to sleep sound.....then i put on a meditation cd and hope for results......

were you hoping for something more...cool? :D

on the same note, is it hard for you people to go to sleep? it takes me a half hour just to get relaxed enough to go to sleep then maybe another 30 to 40 minutes to actually go to sleep on a good day

I think about how the fuck I'm gonna be able to make myself fall asleep.

Especially tonight, after a fun filled evening of rolling face at the beach.

Hope you guys are gonna be up late, cuz I sure am!

For me that is a big no no, once i think about my need to go to sleep all i can think about is when is it going to come, what it would be like to actually remember the moment you go to sleep etc...

do any of you have that thing right before you fall asleep where it feels like your body is dropping down real fast, like you are falling? that is....weird.....

(sorry to cut in on your thread....)

no but i do get this weird sensation sometimes. hard to explain, its like i hear a loud sound and a flash in my vision (like that noise you hear in complete silence) its actually kind of jarring. It only happens every once in a while

P.S. you are not cutting in at all, if anyone else has questions they would like to ask about sleep, feel free to do so.

Hell yeah except the ones I get are more intense than falling. Luckily it doesn't happen near as much as it used to, cuz it's really freaks me the fuck out.

Usually i'll be high so i'll be watching tv in bed so i'll be thinking about that. Or i might as easily be thinking bout my girl. Thinking about Jah, thinking about life. ONE never stops thinking.

That's probably gonna be the way I die. I'll have a falling sensation so bad it'll give me a heart attack. If I stop posting here, you know why. Falling sensastions man.:wtf:

I get that, too! You're not strange. You're nice. Thanks for what you wrote above about your nightly talks with God!

OK, this is one of the things I remember hearing people tell me about getting older, and I never believed it. In my teens and 20s and 30s, I used to have to read or listen to nature sounds or do deep breathing and relaxation exercises to get to sleep. Now that I'm in my 40s, I'm tired enough not to have to have any pre-sleep routine. I stagger into the bedroom, lie down, turn off the bedside lamp, and close my eyes. That's all it takes. I was never an easy sleeper, and now that I'm older, I am. People told me that would happen.

The next step is probably going to be starting to nod off while sitting up. . . . like you see happening to people in nursing homes.

I actually physpically can't get to sleep without music... every day at home since the age of about 7 I've had my hifi on a one hour sleep timer. I think it's just something I've conditioned myself into and a habit I rather enjoy and don't want to break.

And to answer your question I sum up my day in my mind and then lock it away and just relax. Nothing beats a quick bedtime spliff if I'm anxious about the following day.

i don't know if its just a coincidence that i happen to make a thread about sleep only to get insomnia the same night. I didn't sleep at all last night god if i can even call it last night feels like night is still going.

i i sooooo think about games i'm addicted to... which right now would be War Rock (similar to BF2).... i'd think about past games, the most perfect games i've played, strategies for the next games i play etc...

even had a dream where i wasn't playing, i was actually IN the game, runnin around shootin people... damn i need a break... after a quick team Deathmatch on the Pargona East map playing as infantry :stoned:

i have a variety of fantasy worlds, any one of which i can slip into to erase reality from my mind. most of them are just nonsensical pointless images of of actions and reactions that are impossible in the real world, but some of them have an ongoing storyline that has been continuing for years. the only times i find sleep unattainable are when reality intrudes and all of the petty nuisances of the day plague me with self-doubt (i find this happening all too often these days).
