I have never seen a seedling come out looking like this. There are little white things coming out the side, and I usually see two single bladed leaves come out. As usual, any input would be appreciated. One love :rastasmoke:

Thats strange.. It looks to me like pistils. Rather early for those to be popping out however. What kind of environment are you growing in? I know that overstressed plants have been known to do some rather strange things now and again. On a goon note, if those ARE indeed pistils then you know its a female atleast. Or it would be pretty safe to assume anyway. I've never seen a seedling do anything like that before.. You have made history in my eyes. I'll be curious as to what others think as this thread gets a little more age under its belt.

Well see it was some bag seed, it just so happened to be an abnormaly large seed. Of course it caught my eye and I germinated it. Im growing under CFL's, 24/0. I will keep adding pictures as it grows.

18/6 or 16/8 is much better than 24/0....roots

So heres an update on the mutant. I still don't understand why there are 3 leaves it seems as opposed to 2.

is it possible for that plant to already be getting alternating nodes???????
its very wierd....those sure look to me as they are already sexing

Well, I find it hard to believe that that is a pistil, but it sure does look like it. I guess we will know when the thing grows a little bigger. It seems to be growing a bit slowly, don't you guys think? Or am I just being impatient? :p

Don't get these people started with the three leaf mutants...you'll be slaughtered with tales of polyploids, triploids, and whorled photolaxes!!

AHHHHhhhhh....

No, but seriously, I look forward to seeing how this plant develops. :) Keep posting.

alright I gave it a couple days, and heres how its turned out, I don't believe it is pistil production, only because the location is connected to the vein of the strange shaped leaf. But it has managed to work itself back into an almost normal shape. Except there is only 1 of the leaves that comes after the embryonic leaves .

Its some bag seed. As I mentioned earlier, there were about 20 seeds that I had picked out, and this one was like twice the size of the others

Is it standard to put the seedling under the light for 24hrs?

Well 24/0 photoperiod isn't a neccesity. Some use the 18/6 or 16/8. Some studies have concluded that there is more root growth with a dark stage of the photoperiod. This does slow photosynthesis naturally because light is a part of the equation. I have heard many growers say they don't see much of a difference.

Good point break the seeds in gently then you can flood them with light.
