Well, I just took the one of the 23 seeds that was sprouting a root and planted it into some soil. I disinfected a tall, red plastic cup (like those that college kids use to play beer pong), washed it out and dried it. I filled it almost to the room with store-bought soil. I planted the seed about half an inch down in the center of the cup. I then used a solution of plant food and water, and watered it a little bit. It's sitting in my windowsill right now. Hopefully it'll just be a matter of time until I see some nice progress.
The other 22 seeds are surrounded by moist paper towels on a plate, which is wrapped up with plastic food wrapping. I've been making sure to keep the paper towels moist and not let them dry out. Hopefully I'll see some nice progress with more seeds soon.
From what you've read, I'd really appreciate some advice from fellow growers who are willing to give me any suggestions. I'm a beginner and this is my first attempt at growing so please try to bear with me. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

Edit: As suggested by another forum surfer, I should punch holes in the bottom of the cups for drainage. Therefore, I'm gonna put newspaper and paper towels inside a box or some container as liner to catch any drainage.
Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's almost Sunday. I haven't seen any new progress with the germinating seeds or the seed I've already plant. Hopefully within the next day or two, maybe three, I'll start to see some positive changes. I'll be sure to keep this updated and to keep checking back for any more advice.
Also, my roommates and I have another individual staying with us. This particular individual I've always had problems with and have never gotten along with. They've also always had a way with stealing things and especially blaming such actions on other people. I am concerned that, if they find out I'm growing marijuana plants out on my balcony, that she'll eventually try either stealing one of the plants or even taking buds off the plants once they begin to flower. Does anybody have any advice as to how I could keep good track of my plant's progress and to make sure that this individual doesn't fuck around with any of my work? I'd really appreciate some input on this.

To be honest, I didn't even realize that. It most certainly might be an omen. That'd be wonderful for my plants.
I haven't seed any more progress with the seeds on the plate, but I have another 3 days or so. I've heard that germination can take 2-7 days. I'm just getting a little anxious.
I haven't seen much progress with the seed I planted into the cup, but I have been watering it with plant nutrients and distilled tap water, and it's sitting in my windowsill right now.
Maybe Marley will bless me with an unexpectedly huge plant with massive buds. :rastasmoke:

Are there any cheap, affordable, and effective ways to ward off pests and diseases if anything just so happens to go wrong with my grow?
Also, are there any cheap, affordable, and effective ways to promote the growth and overall product in the end?

I just noticed one of the seed's shell is almost completely cracked in half and a fat root was just slightly starting to grow out of the crack in the shell. I automatically planted it. It's out in the sun right now and has been watered along with plant nutrients.
