Go to Auto Zone and get this stuff by McGweyers (unsure of the spelling) plastic scratch remover. It is made to get scratches out of plastic windshields. You also need to pick up a microfiber application pad, so you don't scratch the disk up more.

Apply it as you would toothpaste and it works like a charm. I read somewhere that using toothpaste actually damages the disk more in the long run. Not sure how factual that is, but the above worked amazingly well for my Gears of War disk. It got to one point in campaign where it would freeze, but I haven't had the problem since.

Oh and again, it is Mc Gweyers (sp, guiers?) no clue... plastic scratch remover. If you go, you will know which one I'm talking about when the get to the section of windsheild care or something.

It's maguiers.... I think... fuck it, I think thats right.

tooth paste is bad nut only shit like the whiteners and stuff for gingivitis. Its so acidic that it actually corrodes the disk. I'm glad it worked for ya though and good luck in the future mate:thumbsup:

bluntblaze
05-11-2007, 03:18 AM

slipknotpsycho

oh ok ...... erm im not sure it could possibly be. but that would mean that slip should've been able to get at least one disc to work.

yea to asidic but try cleaning them(with water) and starting a new. Hm unless the toothpaste filled the scratches bc then you'd be kinda fucked.

i dunno ...... its only when i go into buildings or something that load... the same happens when i drive really fast the road just smudges pretty much.

but the guy who created the vid said something like it levels out the scratches but to do that it would have to be removing parts of the disc, in that case it shouldn't work because you'd obviously be removing data wouldn't you?

no, the plastic part doesn't contain data, the data is actually written on the image on the back of the disc... (that's where the silver part is....)

never scratch the front of a CD..
I thought it would look cool if I made a design on the inked up part of a CD when I was younger..then realized I fucked myself when I tried to play it and all the silver shit was scratched off as well.

so how come if the bottom is scratched it doesn't work?

because the laser has to go through the plastic stuff to get to the actual part where the information is stored...and if the plastic part is scratched........it cant read it

I don't know, but any product that is supposed to do the same thing should work. And use it on a cd first. I did the first time I tried it. But like I said, I haven't had a problem with the 360 game since.

And if you do it, make sure you rub it on in a circular motion.
