Well I had everything under control for a fairly long time using benzol peroxide and daily face wash.

anyways i went a weekend without the daily clean routine and I am paying for it now. I am sweating all day cause of work and I've got 6 bad breakouts. Ugh it's been so long, but now that i'm sweating all day 5 days a week I need to up my regiment.

Anybody got some advice?

When I'm drinking plenty of water, I find my face is clearer. I'm 45 and very prone to breakouts. Oily, sun-tolerant skin has given me the gift of looking a lot younger than I am, but I'll probably still be battling breakouts till I'm 85.

I try and drink a minimum of two liters of water a day, and I use that Proactiv solution stuff, which works for me. It's just fancy benzoyl peroxide cleanser, lotion and an astringent. If I use that religiously, my face stays clear. You could go to a dermatologist and get put on one of those dermatological antibiotics, but I hate that idea personally because it's not good for folks to be on antibiotics for a long period of time and because most of those meds also cause some sun-sensitivity. But that's always an option if it's real bad. A lot of people will tell you that diet plays a role, but no one in the medical field believes that. Hormones and surface oil and dirt work together to cause acne. And heat and sweating always make it worse for me. Try and get back to your benzoyl peroxide routine. That's the best stuff there is!

I've got probably similiar skin to you (birdgirl) and I'm managing to keep my shit under control now with just a simple cleanser pad and making sure I wash my face A LOT. Just keep using whatever you use and just deal with the shit you got. Use it as a reminder.

I prefer an astringent made by Neutrogena called "Pore Refining Toner" to the stuff that comes in the Proactiv kit, which I think I might be allergic to. They have that Neutrogena toner in drug stores and sometimes in large groceries. The astringents that contain salicylic acid or aqua-glycolic acid (which is the ingredient in Proactiv that I think I'm allergic to) help keep the pores clean. Regular alcohol toners don't do much. That's what my dermatologist told me. The Neutrogena toner has salicylic acid in it.

Stay off the junk food (especially candy), lower your stress, eat yer veggies, drink yer water, and take 400IU Vitamin-E a day. That's my 2 cents.

hey man I know how it goes...been feeling your pain for a while here...been trying all sorta of at home remedies and topical solutions...and finally found the closest thing to a CURE, yes a CURE. Ever heard of vitamin B5? also known as pantothenic acid.. Check out this study down by a doctor about it curing acne...here (http://www.vilantae.co.uk/medical_study.htm). This still isnt well known to the open public which I'm not surprised since big companys are making billions a year off of temporary solutions for acne. It is hard to find around your area but easy to find online. Anyways the study says to take up to 10grams a day for the first two months and than bring it down to about 1-2 grams. 10grams a day is alot...about 20 pills if they are 500milligrams each, but I'm use to it and is not a problem. This vitamin also comes in powder form so you could just pour it all in a cup of water and drink it down. What this vitamin does is hits the problem at the core breaking down all the extra fat lipids your body isnt able to break up which results in acne. I've been taking 10grams a day for little over a month now and havnt had results like this ever...my face stopped getting oily and feels dry all the time, marks on my face are able to heal, its a nice thing. I also use acne free on my face twice a day just to speed up the healing process. This viatmin is better than the leading acne medicine, accutane, which has alot of horrible side effects and doesnt actually hit the problem at the core as B5(pantothenic acid) does. GOOGLE.COM search about this vitamin and read alot of the success storys out there. Good luck with everything and please give this vitamin a try, its the best cure we got so far and probably ever!

Is it because of the antioxidant content? Because if so, Rooibos green or red tea has approximately 50x the antioxidant content of green tea. Not to mention it's my favorite flavour wise.

Im not an expert on acne and skin care but I think that its better to alternate between Benzyl peroxide and salicylic acid to keep the acne population down.

Generally, 1 in every 1,000,000 cells undergoes mutations that allow it to resist certain drugs. So if you use two drugs at the same time, it becomes 1 in every 1,000,000,000,000 cells that becomes resistant to both. I know that this is true for antibiotics but i dont know if it still stands for those medicated soaps. Maybe birdgirl can rain some knowledge on this.

are you sure you have acne or do you have rosacea?

birdgirl73

Yes, quite sure. I have a good dermatologist who call tell the difference, and I can too. What I control with Proactiv is definitely acne, not the redness of rosacea.

have people noticed that when they smoke more they tend to break out more?

Cannabis treatments may be different ^^ but if you're breaking out, you'll probably want to put LESS oils on your skin, not more. (I just skimmed it and saw olive oil..)

For proactive users, I've heard that after about two years of consistent use it basically stops working. I know a few people, including myself who can vouch for that. Sadly :( My friend had really bad acne and used Nature's Cure (a herbal pill and face wash) and it cleared up AMAZINGLY well. Acne Medication from Natureā??s Cure (http://www.naturescure.com/)

We all have a differently unique biochemistry to us. See your dermatologist and simply see what works and what does not. But drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is happy skin.

thc is supposed to have anti-inflammatory effects in the lungs. maybe that's part of what's helping the break-out on your skin. i agree with couch potato btw.

Radic-al, I wish two things. First that you'd learn to spell "tincture" correctly if you're going to recommend the use of one so incessantly.

And second that you'd do some reading about oils and their comedogenic properties.

It's very simple what you have to do.

Drinking plenty of water, green tea is the first.

Secondly never EVER use soap or anything perfumed on your face. Wash your face once a day in luke warm water, or as I do twice a week roughly. Around once a week I massage cold pressed sweet almond oil onto my skin, and if I have too many plooks I put a little of a tea tree oil in it. Be very careful not to put too much tea tree oil in, just a few drops. Massage gently into your skin in a circular motion with the palms of your hands and let it soak into your pores, you'll probably have to keep wiping it out of your eyes. It's not good for your eyes, especially the tea tree oil, but as long as you are careful it wont blind you or anything if you get a little bit in your eye. It'll just make your vision go a little blurry.

Hemp oil is also very good for your skin but it's more expensive.

You'll have the complexion of a school girl in no time if you do that.
