Audio input on ibook G4

I was wondering if anyone has an iBook G4 and knows how to change the audio output into an input, I have read that you just need to chage it in the settings somehow but I've never found where. Thanks for any help anyone has, I'm just tired of using the intenral mic to record my drums because it is not very good quality.
