I can't wait... I loved where they went with the first one...and I'm insanely curious to see how this one stacks up against it...I was a big fan of the first (I'm really a fan of all zombie flicks anyways..lol)

^^ yeah all the Georgia Romero movies like Dawn Of The Dead, Day of the Dead, Return of the living dead, basically ALL of the zombie movies are filmed right down the road either in Pittsbugh, Uniontown, and connelsville haha I could walk down the street to where it was all filmed. At Halloween Georgia Romero comes from his house in Pittsbugh and does these Fright Night Things and they recreate the movies and shit. Awsome stuff! Im glad to say my hometowns are the zombie capitals of the world haha

It's been a while since a good zombie flick came out..the last major one was Land of the dead or w/e,...the newest Romero flick... it was good..but yeah..I wasn't impressed...well worth the money to see it in theaters..but I'm not gonna go out and buy it

I doubt I'll get a chance to see it when it comes out..so whoever see's it first should post and let me know how good it was or if it sucked balls..(I'll prob see it anyways..haven't gotten blazed and gone to the movies in quite a while)

speaking of that movie..the theater gave discounts if you came dressed up..I was blaring Zombie Nation over my headphones..lol

I'm still undecided on this one. When I first watched the trailer I was sold. Just the idea of a sequal to one of my favorite zombie flicks had me floored. However, upon watching it again I grew slightly worried. The reason I loved 28 Days Later was twofold: the cinematagrophy and the soundtrack. Both were superb. The sequel trailer looks more like your run of the mill shoot em' up.

Oh well, I guess we'll see opening night.

The first one was a disappointing pile of shit, but I'll download this one, just to see if it's any better.

Btw, running zombies = the death of good horror.

Why exactly did you hate it so, Turtlepik? I'd be interested to know. And also, how do you think it stacks up against the other recent zombie films, the Dead series and, god help me, Resident Evil, which also has a sequal out this summer.

I felt like it was leading somewhere interesting. For a large part of the film, I thought there was going to be an interesting twist, like mass hallucinations or something, but I was just left feeling disappointed and like I'd wasted my evening.
Tbh, there haven't really been many good zombie flicks for ages, apart from Shaun of the Dead, and that's more comedy than horror. Imho, the new "Dead" films can't hold a candle to the earlier installments, apart from Land of the Dead, which was quite enjoyable.
As for RE, the first movie was rather lacking in substance, and despite some lovely gory moments and Milla Jovovich looking pretty nice, it didn't really sate me. The second one, however, had a lot more scope for action, and I rather enjoyed it, as shameful as that makes me feel.

As far as I'm concerned, the zombie genre is slowly grinding to a halt, and unless somebody pulls something pretty fantastic out of the bag in the near future, the only people to touch it will be comedy writers. (not that I'd say no to Shaun 2...)

Anyway, I'll watch 28WL, just to see if it's any good. The whole notion of sequels not surpassing earlier installments is absurd, so I'm always ready to be surprised.

Saw 28 Weeks Later last night. Really enjoyed it. I still put the first one ahead of it, but (Small spoiler coming, really vague though!) the opening 10 minutes are fucking terrifying! So sick!

I'd like to hear what other people thought of it. I DUG the choice of casting Robert Carlyle

Really?

I love all the original zombie pictures but I had trouble liking Land of the Dead. I think 28 Days Later (ignoring that they aren't totally zombies) did much more for the zombie genre, and was much better overall, than Land of the Dead. I thought 28 Days was a huge success, it was really quite unique.

Mind you I also really dug the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead and I know not everyone is on board with that one.

i've seen most of 'em and personally i think the opposite... the older dead films can't hold a candle to the new ones....

but i don't generally like old movies... shitty special effects and horrible acting just take away from the feel of any movie for me....

just like some prefer vinyl over cd's.... sorry, the crackling and bullshit irritates me, doesn't create any 'warm feel' for me...

I saw this movie opening day and it was not as good as the first. They used all the same music again, which in the first movie added suspense and uncertainty. This film just does the same theme song in different octaves and maKES yoU THINK its BUILDING UP but it never does.

Saw that shit today, I was displeased. Except where the dude got the virus from the kiss and then he beat the fuck outta his wife and stuck his fingers in her eyes... That was cool.

So you're telling me that the part at the beginning when all the zombies bust into that little cottage isn't one of the most intense things you've ever seen in a movie?

Fucking IMMENSE film. Much better than I thought it would be. Quite possibly the most intense film i've ever seen in the cinema. I think it runs circles around the original, which wasn't so much a zombie film as a fuckin' daytime TV road drama.

Great stuff, every scene was superbly done. My only gripe is Carlyle's daughter was unrealistically hot, but that didn't really get me down that much to be honest.

Roll on Resident Evil 5.

Finally saw 28 weeks, and I loved it. Maybe it was the brownies, maybe it was just a good film. All I have to say is Helicopter. I realized I had been waiting my entire life to see that pulled off.
