Hi everyone, this is my first time at growing cannabis. I am running 3 CFL's, and 2 florescents (one cool white, one gro-lux). To start i used bag seeds from my collection, then to germinate i used papertowel method. When they germinated i planted 3 seeds face down in 3 pots with organix soil mix. Then i used an old reptile housing and took the net of to use the frame to hang my lights on and use it so i could wrap it in tinfoil. Placed setup in closet with lights on 24hr and watered as needed with distilled water. One died so i am down to two that are looking healthy. This will be their 4th day under the new lighting condition. So far to get to this point starting with germination it has been almost a week and a half, so its going pretty rapid. The pics below were taken this morning. Will keep this updated as it is a grow log :D. Lemme know if yall have any input on things to do different as i go along!

*notice on one of the plants that it has a funky colored leave like something was spilled on it, its a little bit brighter green in a few spots, what is this?*

is that tin foil on the walls?

I thought it was tin foil too.. you shouldn't actually use tin foil because it creates hotspots to burn the leaves..

eureka! of course.. why didn't I think!? if that is tin foil then remove it immediately because that's what has caused the leaf burn.. paint the walls in matt white or use mylar.. NOT tin foil, leaf should be ok after that.

Ahhh, ok i thought tin foil could be a lower grade use of mylar. Mkay removed and going to get mylar. The walls are matt white i just thought i would increase the lighting that way. Can you get mylar in like lowes?

Don't know.. I've never used mylar myself..

It looks like you have read a good amount on how to grow.

the pots look like it will work great for a long time.
I my self find it better to plant the seed right in to a big pot first off.
cuz then you will not have to transplant it later.

it saves time also. usuly when I start a new grow I plant in a big pot. cuz then I don't have to worry about rootbound.

and 3 clf lights and 2 floro lights will work good. cuz thats all I have used on all my 12 past grows.and they worked just fine all the way through the flowering cycle to the harvest.

and my buds were great and cristaly.

well good luck on your grow.

AH thank you hydrocannabis, yes i have read a great deal on it and thank you for reassuring me on my lighting. I know thats the biggest issue and i wasnt sure if i had it covered. Now my next question is i have another seed ready to be planted in the 3rd pot that the last one didnt make it in. Do i have enough lighting to run a third pot in the setup or is that only sufficient for 3?

I read for ages before i grew i probably read about 10 different guides all over the interenet and did extensive research on lighting and specturms..etc..will keep you guys updated on this im really excited about it. Its fun to see the progress i have already made. As of this evening they are about to shed their first 2 leaves to grow the next 2 on one plant you can already make out the other two leaves very well, so i should start to see new branch growth in the next few days. :-D

Flat white paint is almost as good as mylar.

Everythings looking g00d so far :D

What fans do you have? its good too have a fan blowing on your seedlings to strengthen their stems. And a good intake/outtake solution is also desirable.

What your cab temps like? 72 - 82 is g00d

The Grow Faq in my sig is magic ;)

Peace

aight well i switched to a solid 20/4 lighting and the one that is growing so much is growing a ton its getting big fast its already starting to move up to its second top, the other is doing the same but its just smaller it isnt as full as the big green one is and the small one has a strong main stem but its leaves are yellowish i think something is wrong with it.

pics from todays shoot of the grow, tell me the tiny one is ok its looking pretty yellow if you ask me. Also on the larger ones what does it mean when the edges of the leaves start to curl up? to hot?? also a pic of my bong and then of the rearragened setup preparing for them to get big.

ok, still growing. about 8 inches tall and healthy lookin leaves but the plants just keep getting taller. the bottom sets of leaves (bout 2) look kinda nutrient lacking or light or sumithin?? idk. what do i need to do to get them to grow more bushy as apposed to mostly straight up and not out. should i light the basew more where the bottom sets are? ive been using the same lights as when i first started. bout 5 , 3 hanging 2 on the sides. let me know pleeease hellp.
:wtf:pics soon:wtf:

Its common for some of the smaller initial leaves to yelllow and die after it starts growing alittle bigger. I would look into some HID lighting if you plan to it right. What wattage are your CFLs? You can use CLFs for vegetative but when you wanna flower you'll need a high pressure sodium lamp(HPS).

So i know i didnt keep the log going :-( sorry yall. Ok where to start, hm...the plants have been through alot (even a move down the street when they were about 13in(shh dont tell anyone). So i get into my new house and set it all back up in my outdoor closet. At this point they were about 14-15in tall. Used a ghetto light rig and was unsatisfide with my results. Had temp problems out in the closet so i moved indoor to a big walk in closet. Used the same light rig as i couldnt think of anything else to use until one night when i was super stoned. I wound up taking apart a bookshelf and using it to be my lighthood and i have it raised by thick books under it as they grow taller. *SCREEECHHH* hold on lol time for my newbie story! In the process of having a ghetto light setup and making my new box i of course had a light fall on my prettiest bushy plant and it snapped the stem in 2 places about 15 and 18 inches up. Quickly took an empty pen housing and taped it to the stem to support it..all hopes were in the air of not losing it as i had already determined both of mine were female. I was two weeks into 12/12 at this point and one plant went from about 22 inches to 37inches in about a week and a half...the other showed no signs of anything but twisting of the leaves and it had killed off all of its female pre-flowers :-'(. I didnt give up i babied it and hoped for the best..as of today i realized there was tons of new growth on it, it has proceeded to drop some of the old branches but it already has new ones in place that are a few inches long and looking very healthy, i took a closer look up at the top of it and saw female pre-flowers coming back!! YAY!:D As for the other plant well its 3ft tall!!! It is looking very good, new branches are all over and growing fast and nicely, it is past the pre-flower stage and i am seeing more and more development on the flowers! Watering about every 2-3 days and fert with bloom booster 1 time a week. Boy they have been through alot but im really surprised how well they have turned out. Hope to have pictures soon, i have no camera right now :-(.

Oh lights have changed too..i now run 6 regular CFL's (whatever the highest watt was in walmart something like equiv to 100watt..they are now hung from the top of the inside of the bookshelf and the domes have been removed around the lights so it is just the lights..on the side i have 2 6in long florescent tubes that have UVB lights in them...this is just an experiment i was reading that UVB can help the flowering process...so far it has not hurt and i cant tell if it is helping because i have been using them since 12/12 lighting.

I am in process of building a small veg box to use so i can start veg'ng my next 2. I will not be using bag seeds this time, i will buy from online thinking a mainly indica strain since its indoors. Help on that would be appreciated, something thats going to grow easy and preferably a high yield.
