I know I'm probably being overly paranoid about this, but I don't know what else would cause this symptom. Basically I've had this small part of my chest, about 3 inches below my left collar bone, that's been really sore for the past 2weeks. It's not tender to the touch, but hurts when I take a deep breath.

I'm particularily worried about cancer because I've been smoking tobacco socially for the past 2 years, particularily pipe tobacco (fully inhaling). I'm at a point in my life now where I don't want to do any drugs. I've completely quit tobacco, alcohol, and yes even weed; mainly because I fear for my lungs and liver (with all the painkillers I take), and frankly I'm just sick of feeling high and want to learn to live without it. If I did have cancer though, I'd invest in a Volcano vaporizer and go back to the weed since it seems to inhibit/kill cancer cells.

So I don't know if it's cancer, honestly it's one of those things that just lingers in my mind and worries me a lot. Should I be worried?

The only people in my family I know had cancer are my grandfather with prostate cancer, and my aunt who got leukemia.

BTW, I checked again and I was wrong, it is sore to the touch if I put on some pressure.

i would say right now for you to 100% DEFANITLY go to your doctor and get a chest Xray and a MRI of your chest.

this dosnt mean its cancer it could be from strain or stress but you NEED to find out fast. just in case

i got the same type of pains and pain and tender spots in my neck.. i got x rays of my whole repitory system ( smoked lots of tabacoo for 5 years and alot of weed the whole time also) i stopped the cigs 2 months ago. anyways it turn out its not cancer at all and is just some repitory inflamation and some other stuff i forgot. So basically just go get an x ray and have the doc look at em.. then youll know for sure... .. heres a link of lung cancer symptoms and I had alot of those symptoms mentioned on there and it turns out I dont have any cancer after the x rays so dont be worried if you see some symptoms of lung cancer because the same symtoms can be associated with different things. Shit man, I actually don't have most of the symptoms listed on that site. I'm starting to feel a lot better about this. I'll bring it up with my doc pretty soon when I get my meds refilled anyway though.

Definitely see your doctor. No one can diagnose you over the Internet. I'm glad you quit that tobacco smoking!

Lung cancer doesn't usually start as a spot that's painful with a deep breath or pressure palpation. That's more likely just muscular pain of some sort or some other sort of inflammation. The one thing that'd be worth checking with the doctor is whether it might be an inflamed lymph node. There are lymph nodes located very close to the area you mentioned, and when they become swollen or painful, doctors do like to know about that. Can you get in to see him a little sooner so you can put your mind at ease?

I doubt anyone cares by now, but I discovered what was causing it; I've just been doing too many pushups in the last while and tore a really deep pectoral muscle I didn't know I had. All that tobacco smoking made me a bit paranoid I guess:o

It was hard to the touch and didn't hurt at all....ended up being a stage 3 Hodgekins Lymphoma and the tumor went through my entire chest to my belly button inside me...who woulda thunk it? Got get it checked out. Please. You never know!

isn't sharp stabbing pain in the lungs more associated with empysema?

The truth is that weed doesn't cause lung cancer to what I know of so it's definetely not the weed. You can continue smoking weed if you just do pure without tobacco.

3 inches below my left collar bone

you know i think i've had tenderness and soreness in that region; wouldn't that be over the heart?

that region feels sensitive on both my right and left side, not especially though; not sure

It's probably not lung cancer, I tend to pull that muscle pretty easily and it usually aches for a while. Stretch your chest muscles out and itll feel better eventually.

I got really paranid that I was dying several years ago. Ended up going to the hospital and getting checked over for 4 separate things. Turned out I was alright in the end and it was just general aches and pains from lack of exercise. It was a long wet and windy winter that years, 10 months of rain. So n0-one got 0ut that year much and l0ts of peple ended up developing that SAD thing. Anyway, I got myself checked out for lung cancer, but the doctor was trying to talk me out of it. I had the scan and it turned out I was just being a bit of a hypochondriac. They told me they would write to me with the results, but I ended up having to call them. When I did they were like, Oh yeah theres nothing wrong with you, you know like we told you. Dunno if that helps, but its always best to get down your doctor anyway if your worried about something. I swore I'd never touch another cigarette afer that, but needless to say I have ended up smoking again, been clean of that dirty shit for a couple of years now though.

was it NS type rebgirl? i am just curious.....cause in the neck would be NS usually, and then the stage 3 would mean both sides of the diaphragm were involved.....how long have you been in remission? i always am curious about cancers, almost fascinated....the first time, i was in remission for about a year and a half, but this time, i am at almost 4 years, thank goodness.....

as for the person that thinks they had cancer...cancer is called a siilent kiler for a reason.....good you went to your doctor and asked them anyway, to soothe your mind, if nothing else....wtg for cutting out the risk factors that could really give you cancer in 20 years.... :D

glad it turned out okay...

Yep, I still know it's definately a muscle. It gets sore when I do too many of these pushups where I put my hands together and make a triangle. But hey, I'm getting some killer pecs now:D
