Hey guys,

Last time I grew I started my plants out under fluoros but now I have my 1 day old seedlings under a 400w HPS. Do you think this is this going to work out, I mean the HPS is at 1 meter above the seedlings and the temperature is exactly 26°C (79°F) but I was afraid that the light would be too strong for them. Has anyone had any experience with seedlings under an HPS? Could I maybe intensify the light by bringing the HPS down even further as long as I keep the Temp constant?

I know fluoros are better for seedlings but normally they're only going to stay indoors for two weeks and then I'm going to put them outside anyway, so they'd better get used to a bit of light :smokin:

Thanks

Ok thanks that's a reasurement, so do I need to keep it high cause of the temperature or the light intensity? Cause if it's temp I can put a fan and lower the light even further and it might be benificial

you can drop the light some as long as the temps are ok at the top of the plants it shouldnt be a problem.

i have 1 week old seedlings under a 400 watt hps as well. i kept the light a foot above them since they sprouted and the light hasn't been too intense at all. Growth is excellent. good luck

It easy and works like a charm, note picture, I have only done a few hundred times so not real sure.
For max effect use 4 foot full service mag ballast and full service cool white 38 watt bulbs. Change bulbs out every 4 months max.
With wattsavors you might want to change bulbs out every month. I tried one once lasted almost 3 weeks, used it hold down the trash can till the trash man picked it up.
But a picture is worth a 1000 words, or 32 clones, 32 prebloomers.
System using automation , relayrunner and a printer port relay. I have was using it with DOS then came xp.

Quite impressive but I dont have fluoros that are big enough right now. I put my light at a good two feet before I left home (I'm a student during the week) . I hadn't read Amazing's post jet but I hear it should be fine.
I told my sister to keep the soil humid and not drown them or let them dry out but I'm pretty anxious to get home.
