I'm not sure if this thread has been made or not before ... I won't lie I'm too lazy to look past the first page... Anyways ... When do you think it is an good time to be a snitch ... A friend of mine was recently arrested (for having 7 ounces on him) and of course the cops asked him to snitch ... My friend said that he did tell on someone and of course I got upset at him about it because I think it's wrong ... and he thought that it was okay because he said if the guy he snitched on would have done the same thing. That made me wonder more about when the appropriate (sp?) time is to snitch. First off I don't think cops should ask you to rat people out in the first place, but I really don't know what I would do in that situation. I think I wouldn't because the guilt of getting someone locked up because of me would be worse than going to jail. And I would snitch on someone if they killed someone.
What do you all think?
Sorry it's so long I ramble on when I'm this blazed LOL.
:bigsmoke:

Oh and I forgot that you should always treat people as you want to be treated so I wouldn't snitch for that reason too. :hippy:

snitching is never a good thing,, the only time to snitch is when somone is gonna kill you (unless that snitching will lead to somone elses death)

Golden rule in prison, you snitch you go down. If you want to play the game

you play by the rules.

naw snitching is wack. When it comes down to small scale drug dealing, snitching gets you nowhere.

It won't help you out with the cops, you still have got to go to court. The cops just want to get everything they can, they aren't deciding the sentence.

Oh and if the guy gets busted because of your friend, that guy has every right to find out who dropped the dime. Well at least in americuh the accused has the right to know who his accuser is.

Snitching is bad business, and I agree that the police ought not to ask anyway. It's too easy for the snitches to lie instead of tell the truth. I was going to say that the only circumstances where snitching would be OK would be in a situation where someone's life might depend on it, but I don't really see how life-or-death circumstances would ever be an issue with snitching.

People need to maintain discretion about sources, just like reporters need to maintain confidentiality of their sources and communication between doctors/lawyers and their patients/clients is considered privileged. It's a matter of professional ethics, if you ask me, which some will see as an ironic statement considering we're talking about snitching about an illegal/illicit substance. Still, for me that's what it comes down to.

If you're snitching on a snitch it is an appropriate time to snitch.

Or if its a real low-life that deserves to be in jail.

i really don't think it would be snitching if you told the Police someone was gonna kill you, and actually people in prison snitch on each other all the time for a differed sentence.

Your right well not with drug dealing really ... unless your real hardcore ... But if I knew someone was killing people and getting away with it I would run to the cops.
There are some people who deserve and NEED to be in jail ... murderers and rappists

I'd probably go to the cops about anything I thought was seriously wrong, not necessarily illegal.

I'm not going to roll over on a friend to save myself on drug charges, but my entire crew is smarter than that so it's never actually been a problem.

People take the 'don't snitch' thing to far these days though. Things like murder and rape should be reported. Some people really should be in jail.

i think snitching and making a deal r very different..snitching kinda means that u wouldve done it willingly..making a deal to be able to raise ur kids is a lot different when theyd be orhpans otherwise...theres consequences for every action but there r witness protection programs for a reason

i havent snitched and havent gotten myself in a position for it to present itself, just bringing another view into the convo

I'm all for snitching on murderers and rapists. Just not on "cannabists." I agree, Poly, that the no-snitch thing has gone too far. Saw an Anderson Cooper piece on the no-snitch movement in hip-hop within the last week or two, and it was scary!

Here is something for everyone to ponder on. Snitching is in no, way, shape or form, cool or a good thing at any time. like it was said earlier on if you want to play the game, you better be prepared for the consequence's that could follow. When Starsky and Hutch came out. That clown Huggy Bear is what portrayed snitching to be acceptable in society. Thats Bullshit and I hope your freind is prepared to possibly sleep with the fish someday.:smokin:

And the bottom line is if your freind told on one of his freinds or connections. dont think your an exception to him. In order for him to save his scary little ass when he gets caught again:D

Snitching isn't cool, but there are very few times when it should be done. The only time it should be done is when your life is in danger, or someone you know who's life is in danger, and by danger, I don't mean the bully is going to beat you up, I mean death, deadly danger.

Other than that, mind your own business. People get killed all the time for putting their nose in where it didn't belong, so it's best to stay out of other peoples business.

The only time you should snitch is if the cost outweighs the benefits of not snitching. In other words, if you snitch on something cannabis-related, that isn't cool.

On the other hand, if you are facing like 10 years for something you didn't do, but your friend did, I don't care who you are, you'd consider snitching. Infact, it would be smart if you did. But if you were involved, and you snitched, you are stupid.

Agreed ... Infact me and my good friend (not the snitch) have a pact at school about snitching because we share a locker and there are sometimes dog sniffers (plus the principals have it in for both of us a little and they have searched our locker before luckly I had the shit in my bra) We promised to take the blame if it's our shit that we get caught with and that we can't be mad at each other for telling on each other.

Actually the best thing to do in that situation is if you both kept silent. Don't incriminate yourself, ever. Let lawyers do the talking. They can get very creative if you don't give piggies ammo.

Lemme tell you a short story.

I had a really good friend, a best friend even. He snitched. He ended up running to a different state because he had death threats against him. He's back now, after two years..and he has no friends. Honestly. NO friends. And sadly, even I can't trust him. This guy was close enough to me to be my boyfriend too.

Snitching is not something you do in the drug world. Or in any world, really.

yea i got screwed real bad like this in august. an old friend i knew had apparently gotten busted with coke and he made a deal with the police to set me up. he told me he needed a half o and i told him to meet me. when i went down i was tackled by 5 police. the police took me to the hospital to staple my chin back together from their tackle and took me to jail. needless to say the past half year has been a living hell. i had to drop out of college and i now have a large scar on my chin, not to mention fighting felony charges. when they brought me in they tried to get me to snitch for a long time and i told them no way was i doing that. the worlds a messed up place.

Most people believe they wouldn't snitch if put in the situation, then when the interrogator is telling you that you could be out sooner if you just rolled over on someone, suddenly everything is in your favor. Some people take sides with the cops and others simply do their time. Pressure in the form of temptation is the most wicked kind.

I agree with what most of everyone else has said. If you get caught with weed, why rat out someone who has more weed on them than you? You may get off because of it, but we all know what potential charges we are looking at whenever we pick up a sack. If you can't deal with the idea of one day being busted, either be very careful or give up the weed.

Now this whole snitching thing only refers to cannabis users and their dealers. If see someone beating the shit out of someone I'm calling the cops. I call the cops on drunk drivers a lot too. Only the ones who are all over the road and need to spend the night in jail. Certain people deserve to be arrested.

There is a difference between "snitching," and simply helping make your community a better place.

If you are unfortunate enough to get busted with weed, don't sell someone else out simply so you can avoid jail.

If you do snitch on some one to save your own ass, you are no better than the government and their propaganda, or the kind of cop who doesn't just do his job, but goes out of his way to make the evil pot smokers lives hell.

when someone tells you they are gonna kill someone...

when somethign is over your head... i.e. you got problems with someone, you have t odeal with it, but attacking them will only provoke further attacks from that person and accomplices, or they threaten to cause others harm...

I'd rather go to jail than fuck someone else's life up. I adapt well to living hell.

If LEO's try to get me to snitch then I tend to fuck up their program.....I ask for a Lawyer...AKA Lawyering Up on 'em!! Once you ask for a lawyer they cant ask any more questions, get you to snitch, only thing they can do is run their investigation...Without your help!!!
