CANNABIS.COM Lounge (205 Viewing)

Activism (3 Viewing)

Meh.

Normally I wouldn't object to one of my threads being moved, but seeing as this post will only be relevant for another 5 days (and that it's for a good cause) I was kinda hoping it could stay in the lounge where people will actually see it. But whatever...

Anyway, thanks to everyone who's taking action to make a difference. The more people do these kinds of things, the less ground that old "Amotivational syndrome" hype will be able to hold.

For those going to a march:

Hug Power

"Hug Power" is a technique that may be practiced in some of the more tolerant areas. It can be very effective in stopping police arrests, but it is a risky tactic that will only work under the right circumstances.

Hug Power is used when you wish to deter and prevent arrests, sometimes even resulting in an "un-arresting" or "de-arresting" of the cannabis criminal out of the hands of the police.

Hug Power is practiced simply by a group of people all hugging the person who is being unfairly arrested. If a large number of people are all holding on tightly to each other, with the intended arrestee in the middle, then the police have to pull off a large number of non-violent protesters to reach their target.

I have used this technique at a number of rallies in Edmonton and Vancouver. We have successfully stopped the police from making their arrest a number of times.

...Hug Power does not mean "hug the police" â?? it means "hug the person getting arrested."

... Hug Power only works on victimless criminals, and only works when video cameras are around to record the unjustifiable use of force by police.

...one is not to touch the police during Hug Power. The point is to obstruct the arrest only. Police should always be spoken to politely, but firmly.

If you are practicing Hug Power, be prepared for the real possibility of getting roughed up or beaten by the cops at some point.

The cops still have "Rodney King-o-phobia" â?? they hate getting caught on film using force without clear justification. So be sure to have plenty of independent cameramen and videographers at all your events! The chance of being caught on film is the best deterrent to police violence and your ultimate victory.

hmmm i wish i could go, but sadly the guys who are meant to be organising the birmingham one have forgotten all about it (LCA i am looking at you)

and no one bothered organising one in london...

Midlesborough is my last chance but even their site hasnt got a meeting place written down yet, which probably means it will be just me rallying for the uk side...

oh well... :woohoo:

No offense to you, spngrkid101, but...
I would advise that people under the age of 18 not go to a march, and if they do, definitely don't partake of any herb before or during it.

I think a bunch of underaged people getting stoned at these things would give the wrong kind of impression to the authorities and the media rather than helping the cause.

But you should tell your dad about the march.

I was thinking of going, but then I heard that people don't buy or sell during the march, because it is more dangerous. Is this true, even in Toronto?

afghooey
05-03-2007, 01:47 AM
I would assume it's more dangerous, because there will be cops there, but it's pretty much a given that there will be some free herb being passed around anyway.

no offence taken

thats a reason i dont want to go is cuz people might not be accepting of somebody my age partaking in a legalization for marijuana cuz they will think its jsut some dumbass kid wanting weed to be legal so he cud smoke whenever.... but im not like that i reasearched weed and effects and stuff before i smoked and i think it should be legal cuz its simply not that bad and nobodys ever died from it and shit like that u know but yea if i did go then i woudnt go high or anythign i think thats kinda a dumb impression

Patience, man. Keep on educating yourself, then when you come of age you'll have a more powerful arsenal for educating others.

Almost feel out of my chair a few minutes ago.

Q107 FM Calgary Q107 FM - Calgary's Classic Rock (http://q107fm.ca/) just mentioned the Calgary GMM on the radio, they included where and when the march will be held.

I have met the morning show folks and have been pushing the truth on them and even delivered pro cannabis magazines and a number of other truthful documents for a while now.

If lots of folks contact them and thank them for the GMM mention on the radio that would be great.

Forget London, England didnt have one at all from what i know...

I have been looking forward to it since one guy mentioned it in the start a revolution thread, i would have gone to either midlesborough or birmingham...

But....

Next year i take full responsibility for organising one in london :greenthumb:

(lol i know its a long way away and you will all forget, but i will remind you...)

The Minneapolis march was, for the most part, totally awesome. There were some cool people there, no shortage of smoke, and I'm not sure which band we got there in time to watch before the actual marching, but they played a wicked Purple Haze.

It was a great experience for sure, even if it rained for a while. :stoned:

Thanks to everyone who was able to go to a march!
