According to a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, 61% of Americans oppose ??denying the funding needed to send any additional U.S. troops to Iraq,? and opposition is up from 58% in February. (3/23-25, 2007).

A Bloomberg poll reveals 61% of Americans believe withholding funding for the war is a bad idea, while only 28% believe it is a good idea (3/3-11, 2007).

A recent Public Opinion Strategies (POS) poll found that 56% of registered voters favor fully funding the war in Iraq, with more voters strongly favoring funding (40%) than totally opposing it (38%); (3/25-27, 2007).

POS found also that a majority of voters (54%) oppose the Democrats imposing a reduction in troops below the level military commanders requested (3/25-27, 2007).

A separate POS poll finds 57% of voters support staying in Iraq until the job is finished and ??the Iraqi government can maintain control and provide security for its people.? And 59% of voters say pulling out of Iraq immediately would do more to harm America??s reputation in the world than staying until order is restored (35%); (2/5-7, 2007).

A Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll show 69% of American voters trust military commanders more than members of Congress (18%) to decide when United States troops should leave Iraq. This includes 52% of Democrats, 69% of Independents and 88% of Republicans (3/27-28, 2007).

According to a recent Pew Research survey, only 17% of Americans want an immediate withdrawal of troops (4/18-22, 2007). That same poll found a plurality of adults (45%) believe a terrorist attack against the United States is more likely if we withdraw our troops from Iraq while the ??country remains unstable?
Should a date for withdrawal be set, 70% of American believe it is likely that ??insurgents will increase their attacks in Iraq? starting on that day. This is supported by 85% of Republicans, 71% of Independents and 60% of Democrats. (FOX News/Opinion Dynamics, 4/17-18, 2007).

An LA Times/Bloomberg polls reveals that 50% of Americans say setting a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq ??hurts? the troops, while only 27% believe it ??helps? the troops (4/5-9, 2007).

Looks like the people want us to hold the course and for the Dems to chill on the anti-U.S. rhetoric. LOL.......I definately see a Republican Prez and a House shift in the near future!

Please Sonny, not another Faux noise poll, doesn't 99% from fox polls say Dubya is doing a wonderful job, puleeese. No-one wants to deprive the troops of anything that would put their lives in more danger than Dubya has already done. There is a ton of money available to maintain troop integrity, this bullshit by the repubes that the troops will be in danger is just more neo-con Rhetoric designed to pressure the vote, pure bullshit. If the troops are in danger, pull them out of harms way, seems like a rational approach to me P4B says {"Looks like the people want us to hold the course and for the Dems to chill on the anti-U.S. rhetoric. LOL.......I definately see a Republican Prez and a House shift in the near future!"} Don't hold your breath, the people are fed up with the scheming, lying Repubes, Even a Whig would stand more of a chance than any Repube.

Polls are like assholes Most every side has at least one. Some people are such assholes, you wonder if they may have more than one, Like fox noise, they have about a dozen or more. I wonder how they can legally call that station a news station, must be a huge loophole. their "news" is like Ha Ha, I told you so, even when they're wrong, which, BTW is about 99% of the time.

Once again I'll use that famous quote, "There you go again".

If these polls were stating your point they'd be solid gold but unfortunately for you and others..........THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!:D

The majority of our fine citizens realize what's at stake despite the gloom and doom reports of the Defeat-0-cons. Let em' preach from the steps of Congress but the people know that there is "More Than Beats the Eye". LOL

You can slant polls any way u want its all in how u ask the question.

Actually that is consider bad form, when constructing polls it is almost always done to specifically eliminate bias questions, they skew poll results and thus make them unreliable. The type of poll taken from USA Today would definately work to eliminate bias, they are a reputable source and to use biased questions would hurt their credibility (believe it or not).

Here's the difference between a bias question and an unbiased one:

(Unbiased) Do you approve of the President's handling of the war on terror? Yes/ No/Uncertain

(Biased) Do you approve of the President's poor handling of the war on terror? Yes/No/Uncertain

Now look at the question's above on the poll, draw you're own logical conclusions.

Edit: I see that the original questions are not listed, so you cannot come to any logical conclusions from the given. USA Today / Bloomberg and *gasp* even Fox News are reputable news sources regardless of your views on them. If you do doubt the polls, why don't you review the sources, they are given above. If it's so hard to believe that the American public actually feel the way that's stated above then perhaps you are disillusioned.

Disillusioned, maybe I'm the only one seeing it clearly. The war is lost. The only reason we are still there is the oil. As was reported by the Fishman, when the new bill passes in the Iraqi parliment, the US oil companies will own 80% of the Iraqi oil reserves, was there ever any question as to why we went there? This "save the Iraqis from Sadam" was a giant smoke screen that even a pre-schooler could have seen through. All you neo-cons that are beating:beatdeadhorse: Should grow up and see the real deal!

That is a crock.....sorry. Right now I think that 17 out of the 80 sites are pumping; the rest were in such bad condition that they had to be capped off. IF this bill passes the Iraqi government will give the oil companies 75% of profit until the investment capitol is made up and then the percentage of gross profit is 80% for Iraq.

I always love how it's portrayed as if we're just pumping out the oil with nothing left for the country in question. Hell, when Saddam was in power it was French and Russian rigs.........none of which were maintained worth a shit.

You're talking about 20% of the oil reserves that have been tapped. What the new legislation that Fish talked about is the 80% that is still untapped, and will be distributed to the USA and the Brits, Viola, Billions of bucks for big oil. It's sure nice to have an oilman for President eh. If I could afford it, I'd buy some oil stock, If FRPT ever drops to 15.00 again, Im going to buy a bundle, you know those contracts are going to go big time. the military is already screaming for them.

This has been discussed between myself and other mods in here. It's not the right or the left......

Before the major blow in here it used to be a MAJOR arena for insults, etc.... Since then it's just been a few that can't make the change or effort to do such. I think we can at least TRY to have debates without the personal attacks.

Being politics heated debate is expected. IF we notice that it was just a progressive thing that happened during a debate it's dealt with differently than somebody just logging in to call another member an asshole.
