i have decided that i want to smoke once every 2- 3 months. and not be a regular any more. what
But all that happens is i crave it more and more.. i went 2 weeks and it felt like a year.

Think about all of the things that you enjoy that you haven't done in a while. Keep yourself busy and most importantly, entertained!
If you don't want to think about smoking, you're going to have to fill your time up with things that are equally as satisfying as smoking or you'll never stick with it. It's like being on a restrictive diet plan. If you take away the things that you enjoy without filling the void with something else, you'll fall off the waggon.

yeah if you really want to get away from it, you have to make changes in almost every part of your day. kind of depends on how much you're used to puffing. it's really hard when you try to go about your regular business as usual minus the weed. I had a buddy who smoked all the time then quit abruptly and he said he really didn't feel like his normal self for at least two months after quitting. So if you are intent on divorcing herb, you should expect those cravings to last a helluva while. You can make it into a positive experience; when you're fiending hard, do exercise. and keep a journal to track your progress.
The best part is, once you get a hold on it and the enzymes in your body get expelled, you can puff every once in a while and not relapse hard, it takes practice and a lot of discipline, just remember it's easier to quit for good than it is to smoke a minimal amount without wanting more. it's a good character building process. I suggest an antioxidant to curb the cravings. yerba mate tea is phenomenal. it's hard to find retail. Nativa yerba mate (http://www.nativayerbamate.com/) I order mine from here. good luck

That's the exact advice I would have given.
