At Last, Kucinich Begins His Quest for Impeachment

He finally did it!

After delaying, rescheduling, postponing yet again, and then re-rescheduling, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/dennis-kucinich/) (D-Ohio) finally held a news conference late today launching his Quixotic quest to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.
Accompanied by his red-headed, statuesque bride (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/sleuth/2007/03/kucinichs_wife_getting_out_the.html) and a handful of aides, Kucinich approached a set of microphones at an outdoor news conference on Capitol Hill and somberly began reciting from the Declaration of Independence. "We hold these truths to be self-evident..."
A dark-horse Democratic candidate for president whose name is usually accompanied by an asterisk in the polls, Kucinich introduced a House resolution "impeaching Richard B. Cheney, vice president of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors" -- mainly for allegedly dragging America into war with Iraq "under false pretenses."
Why is Kucinich solely blaming Cheney and not both the vice president and the commander in chief? Because "if we started with Bush" and he actually got impeached, "Mr. Cheney would then become president," Kucinich replied.
Asked by one of a handful of reporters who covered the news conference whether any other members of Congress have signed on to his impeachment proposal, Kucinich explained that he just sent the "weighty" proposal today for all to review.
"So at this point you stand alone?" the reporter asked.
"No," Kucinich said, he stands with "millions of Americans" who have written to their state and federal officials demanding action against the Bush administration.
"I do not stand alone. I have multitudes of people [supporting] me," he said.
Kucinich introduced three articles of impeachment against Cheney: The first accusing the vice president of deceiving the country by "fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify" an invasion of Iraq; the second accusing him of "purposefully" manipulating intelligence to Congress and the American public about a relationship between Iraq and al-Qaeda "despite all evidence to the contrary;" and the third for "threaten[ing] aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States."
In a synopsis, Kucinich wrote, "In all of this, Vice President Richard B. Cheney has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as Vice President, and subversive of constitutional government, to the prejudice of the cause of law and justice and the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore Richard B. Cheney, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office."
You can read all of the articles yourself on Kucinich's Web site (http://kucinich.house.gov/SpotlightIssues/documents.htm), as well as here: Synopsis (http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/Impeachment_synopsis.pdf) | Text of Resolution (http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/Impeachment_resolution.pdf) | Letter to Cheney (http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/Cheney_letter.pdf).

After scrapping plans to introduce articles of impeachment against Cheney last week in the wake of the Virginia Tech shooting rampage, Kucinich rescheduled his announcement for noon ET today. But in what his supporters might call a random act of kindness, he postponed after news reports said Cheney had to make an unexpected visit to his doctor Tuesday morning to have the blood clot in his leg checked.
As The Sleuth noted earlier, Cheney looked just fine later in the day when he made an extraordinarily rare appearance before the TV cameras following the Senate Republicans' weekly luncheon and blasted Senate Democrats for their position on the Iraq war.
Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride told The Sleuth that the vice president isn't giving Kucinich's impeachment plan a second thought. "The vice president is focused on doing the job the American people elected him to do."
A Republican strategist close to the vice president, meanwhile, quipped that Kucinich's strategy is to "try to go from a quarter of a percentage point to a full percentage point" in the presidential polls. (Or maybe from one-one hundredth of a percentage point to one-tenth...)
We'll be watching the polls in the coming days, as Kucinich plans to hold another news conference (barring any Cheney medical issues) at noon ET tomorrow.

I think a heart attach would be more fitting, a fatal one. That would bring to a close the most disturbing Vice presidency in the history of the country Impeachment in abstencia could then proceed, but we at least would be rid of the S.O.B.. THis asshole with his posse is responsible for at least 100,000 to 800,000 deaths, his death could not be quick enough. Not only has he caused death and destruction of the country of Iraqi, he has instituted war contracting that has squandered hundreds of billions of taxpayers hard earned dollars, has inserted around 100,000 mercenaries into Iraq so the war will go on even after the troops leave and been responsible for most of the legislation removing our constitutional rights. This guy, if not the Devil, is a close relative! I say Kucinich is the only senator with balls, he deserves the medal of freedom for this action.

"You guys mourn 32 students when hundreds of thousands have died in Iraq many women and children.HYPOCRITES......"

The death of one is a tragedy..
The death of a million is just a statistic..
