Hey fellow evergreen state tokers. If you are visiting this board and looking for like minded people say hello and why you are here.

For instance...my name is Richie. I live in the south end (kent). I am usually on this board when I am ripped, bored, and looking for some social interaction. Well not too much interaction depending on how good my current green is treating me....Peace....

Nice way to get to know everybody.

Well, I am Samwhore, I am a regular on this board and all over it too. I live in the boring town of Gig Harbor. I come on this board almost everyday because I am a post whore. This is a great board to find any information, nice people to meet, or just for a laugh.

Long live Starbucks.

When You are as good looking as I am, you really don't have to prove it. There really is no doubt about it. BUT, here is a picture of me a couple of years before I graduated from high school. My hair has grown out now, as everyone knows.... besides.... RichieRich will vouch for me on this!;)

So, I went to check out a couple of places today. First, went to Cigar Land...didn't find what I was looking for. Second, I took a looksy in Smoke + and found a nice little "water pipe" (wink, wink) to give me something to work towards. All I've had lately is legal bud, which is calming but not all that much fun. However, at least it's something. Anyhow, I was wondering what other places there are around Kent as far as head shops go. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the welcome RichieRich!

RichieRich
06-06-2007, 07:18 PM
There are a couple of decent "smoke shops" on pac hwy. One just down from 200th and another by 240th. I have never tried any of those legal buds. Peace.....

kareawack
06-08-2007, 06:36 AM
Thanks. I'll have to check them out. Just FYI, the water pipe I purchased the other day...well, when I got home there was a hole in the back...just cracked open for water to splash out. Anyway, I took it back to Smoke + and even though I think the guy was skeptical about whether or not I had damaged it (I had not), he exchanged it for me. I thought that was pretty decent and good info to pass along.

Being from California originally, it is much more difficult to find cannabis-friendly places around here. Granted laws are different, but I'm really trying to find my groove up here. Glad this board exists to help me get my bearings.

Cheers!

RichieRich
06-08-2007, 08:48 PM

It's Social Security disability, Space Needle. So he means he's getting disability benefits or possibly he even means SSI, which is Social Security income, where he's getting benefits according to financial need. Whatever the case, it means he's on a limited income and so can use some strategies for how to obtain medical MJ and a recommendation under those financial circumstances. (Which are challenging.)

I've lived in Seattle for a few years now but never made an effort to meet new people. I'm looking to meet a few buddies to hang out with, wanting a more group type of feel. Seattle seems so big, I can never seem to find anyone.

I'm 18, love music, books, art, video games, rpg's and movies.
I enjoy recreational chilling and cool people! :D

So, if anyone is bored one day, just gimme a buzz.

Hello, I live in Kirkland. I'm currently working on getting my permit through the THCF here in wa. Has anyone else got their license through them? Was it hard? I'm particularly interested in the pot use patterns in the medical history packet. Yes, things are changing down here in SW Washington and not neccessarliy in the best interests of the patient community:
A lot of patients I've talked to in and around Vancouver are really upset by the counties response that a patient giving another patient a cutting or clone was delivery even the the county and city are apparently going to allow a storefront dispensary to open in town.
( EMC1130 (PNWCC) on Twitter (http://twitter.com/PNWCC) )
A friend is drafting a letter to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney: Art Curtis, Mailing Address: P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666.

This is only a rough draft and this is a very important. It really applies mainly to his situation as a patient but it would be appreciated if other patients would read the draft and mail letters of their own to the Clark county, and, or both the prosecutors and police chiefs of the two local counties.
Draft follows:

Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to a recent third party conversation I??ve had with a Vancouver Police Officer. I had asked the legality of one qualifying patient handing another a marijuana plant
and or marijuana. I understand the officer conferred with the District Attorney??s office. The response I received was your office interprets that activity as delivery of a controlled substance.
An illegal act. I am asking that you reconsider on the following grounds.

The Washington State medical marijuana laws have no provision on how a patient may obtain marijuana or marijuana plants. There is a provision for a Designated Provider but that merely takes us up the ladder one rung. There is no provision on how the provider obtains plants.

(Other than my qualifying patient status the following is anecdotal. I haven??t any knowledge of times, places or the individuals that have attended.)

I??m part of a loose knit community of qualifying patients in Clark County. I??ve heard that in the past there have been social ??get-togethers.? Only documented patients, providers and immediate family are allowed to attend. At these gatherings it is typical for patients to bring clippings, slips, rooted plants and marijuana to be given away. Though I know ??delivery? isn??t
dependent upon money changing hands it??s my understanding that these were given, not sold.

(Anecdotal paragraph ends)

I was considering hosting such an event myself until I queried the officer. A conviction and jail time being a deterrent. I feel this deterrent is detrimental to the Clark County medical marijuana community. Allow me to explain.

In general, the community wishes to keep the black market at arm??s length. And, of course, purchasing marijuana or plants from the black market is illegal. There??s a feeling of isolationamong us. We have only ourselves for support.

Many people who aren??t familiar with the intricacies of medical marijuana are not aware that one plant is not necessarily like the other. Different strains and harvest times have different affects on the patient. Some plants offer relief for insomnia, others for nausea or pain, etc.
Many patients have experimented for several years with different varieties until they??ve found what works best for their particular malady. These social gatherings give people the opportunity to test different plants for their effectiveness. Further, it gives them the option of obtaining the plants for their own garden.

Newly qualified patients often find they haven??t the resources to obtain plants for themselves.
They simply don??t know where to get plants, what plants and how to grow them once they do.
The community is a wealth of knowledge on growing techniques and problem solving. Also, Ibelieve obtaining plants from other patients is a safer method then whatever may be available??on the street.?

A catastrophic event can easily wipe out an individual??s grow. If we are allowed to support one another we would be able to replace the loss without venturing outside the community.

I??m not asking for an increase in the existing limits under the law. I??m not asking your office to condone a free for all. I??m asking for compassion. If we are allowed to, we can support ourselves.

I don??t wish to appear argumentative, however the following has me curious.
I understand that Clark County law enforcement has given the go-ahead to a business that plans to open a dispensary or co-op. On the face of it I find that encouraging. It leads me to believe Clark County has become aware of the usefulness of marijuana as a medicine.
Though most of us are self sufficient I??m sure this business will provide a service for many.

What I??m curious about is how this business has managed to sway law enforcement when it is blatantly illegal. More so, in my opinion, than patients helping patients. We aren??t interested in helping one another for money. We want to help one another simply because we care.

I don??t understand how this business can have a store front but we would put ourselves at risk of prosecution for handing one another a plant. To me the business appears more of a violation of the patient\caregiver law then what it is I??m asking you to allow.

In closing, once again I??ll ask that you reconsider your stance in this matter. Further, I??ll offer that if you allow me a ??sanctioned? get together a representative from your office or the police department will be welcomed so that you cans see firsthand what I have been describing: Patients helping patients, in a safe environment, for no other reason than compassion.

Thank you,

gypski

I think your letter is straight forward and right to the point. Proof read and correct some joined words and paragraph spacing.

And not to allow free exchange between patients and then on the other hand allow a dispensary by unknown individuals sounds very hypocritical to me. Maybe its LEO who is going to run the dispensary. :D

I still believe non-profits are a good way to go, but as always here in the WA forum, that's debateable. Not everyone can grow and the market is vast if those really in need were able to fully come out of the proverbial closet with LEO following the dictates of the law and not reinterpreting to fit their paradygm. That also goes for the laggards in the legislature who refuse to face the inevitable. Time for them to be the truely responsible stewards of the people and make medical marijuana readily available to those in need either profit or non profit or both.

I'm not against a dispensary, definitely not against a non profit co-op situation, not even against possible taxation and some regulation. I'm just not happy about giving privileges to special interest groups while not allowing patients to enjoy the same privileges if physically and otherwise able to help themselves.

Lol, the dimwits over at skunkschool banned me for life, thought I was threatening a member with the police by posting above draft:

You have been banned for the following reason:
Threatening SS members with police.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

If they had actually read my post they'd realize I was just asking the counties and city for equal consideration for patients. The dispensary already had it's meeting with the local officials, after all the law was written for patients wasn't it? Silly people.. ;)

If you are a THCF patient they offer a sheet of paper with phone numbers of local caregivers. Very good experience with them. Good MMJ :rasta:

THCF no longer gives out the referral list as of 3 weeks ago:( Just renewed and they are putting themselves as far away from the medicine as possible.

Wow, that's really too bad. I'm honestly starting to get pretty disheartened about getting my MMJ permit. Sounds like WA has a long way to go in this department.. wish it was more like CA here in that respect. Between all the conspiracy theories and the shady/underground nature of obtaining medicine... it almost doesn't seem worth it.
I mean, seriously, how are you supposed to get started if the place that issues you a permit won't even give you information about obtaining medicine? It's like getting a prescription from your doctor that you can't fill anywhere in the world... legally. <sigh> I'm hoping it really isn't that bad, but after doing much research the picture being painted is not so pretty.

Hey folks. I'm a Film-Maker who just moved to Seattle with my buddy who suffers from Crohn's Disease and wants me to be his official provider. I grew (illegally) in my home state in the east for three years before getting informed on and thrown in jail for a year. Looking forward to living in a more friendly state. Been lurking in the forums here for a while and finally decided to join up.

Where us patients could have meetings we could at least disseminate information and co-ordinate to form fellowship, there is strength in numbers. I would be willing to teach and consult with other patients for free if there was any interest, I've done TV shows in HumCo,Cali and Canada... teaching cannabis botany and growing to patients like myself. I'm a disabled Vet myself and am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure other vets have access to meds. Just thought I'd see if there was any interest? Peace, Steve Tuck

I forgot to introduce me self. Always looking for ways to expand my personal database of bullshit and not so bullshit. Right now I'm very interested in tissue culture. I see it as being the future of farming, or at least I see it in my future.
Imagine having 1000 clones growing in a clear sterile fishtank looking thing.....really, if you can visualize that, then your on the same page as me:jointsmile:
